Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
I have that printed out in front of me, its not to scale, its out by about 20% (checked with mircometer)
Cheers Chris, but I could do that with the original bonnet, cheers mate.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
The car already had them in, im swapping bonnets over, so need to cut new holes. I have the measurements will have to knock some up.
The bottom two pins attach to the feed from ignition to coil, i will just cut, attach wire with heat shrink and put some crimps on the other end slotting them on the pins.
Solid state im guessing will be different
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Does anyone know a online link to a Aerocatch template? I have already looked on-line and on their web page but the print outs are not to scale, getting annoying now, would rather use a template to save the hassle of making one up. Cheers.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Few pics of the interior showing control panel, the switches control the Heater, rain light (there is room for more switches if I feel the need to go down that route). I will be making a smaller secondary control panel to mount the 12v socket, diagnostic...
Thanks guys that has cleared it up, I will tap into yellow (as the permanent feed will be cut by the main battery supply by the cut off switch).
Will try and get this job done today hopefully
The PMS ones have a allen key recces in the ends to aid in removal/tightening up, the KTEC ones dont, also the ens of the PMS ones are bullet tipped. The PMS ones work fine with 16mm spacers.
Ok, what wire did you cut into for your cut off switch, do you mind looking Pete (or mark). This is needed to pass scrutineering so ppl who race on here must have done it at some stage (unless its a push button kill switch).
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Thanks guys, Nick, yea as long as you understand the rules, mainly safety, if you have done track days before (that you have) you will piss it, they speak to you before hand anyway with any potential problematic questions in the test. The driving part was...
No not yet, need to get a multi meter, I have asked numerous ppl even ppl who own garages and still they cant tell me what one I need to splice into lol
So I will try the red wire first, then failing that the yellow.
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Thanks guys, the questions was easy, I must admit there was one question where it could have been two of the answers, that threw me a bit, but apart from that yea straight forward. You have to get 100% on 3 parts and the 4th part you are allowed to drop 2...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Today I sat my ARDS test and passed at Brands Indy, however I will be honest and say that I was rusty due to not having done a track day since Spa last year ( 9 months) lol, took me a few laps to blow the cobwebs out.
So medical is all done and will get...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
No mate, I manage to get one out, but over drilled the thread, so need to find a way to getting a nylon bolt in the frame, its been suggested I weld a recess nut in there, any ideas?
My thoughts exactly, there are some holes in there already, but to far from the bolt. This must happen all the time with these cars so what do the traders do?
I overshot the drilling out and sheered of the inner thread so the bolt just slides in, so was thinking of putting a nylon nut in there, just need to get inside the frame.
The other bolt is half drilled out, Im chewing up HSS bits!
Will a rivnut be strong enough?
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
Update:
Over the past week I have been working on the car like crazy, putting in a lot of hours to get it road worthy.I have manage to hit a few snags on the way, such as sheered bolts, that have taken sometime drilling out.
So I manage to fire up the...
