I had used the on a RS4 on track with thermo TMPS to measure tyre heat, yea they did stay very consistent on track, and temp and PSI only rose slightly.
Its not even worth it for road use. IIRC you have to use special air valves to reduce moister constant...or something...(which mine never had).
Does this involve extracting the bearing cap (special tool needed?), cleaning, refitting and then using the injection bond (Mastixo) or will it be ok to leave it in situ and smear bond around the joins after giving them a clean?, the engine will be kept in the car, so the first option might need...
Re: sonny172cup "track racer project"
While the gear box is still away I thought I would remove the clutch and flywheel to inspect an oil leak suspected coming from the crank oil seal, it was confirmed to be that, also think it maybe weeping from the sump gasket too, odd as this was new in...
Im a novice driver having only 1 race meeting under my belt.. We all have to start somewhere.. So dont be put of vy that.. Its the participation and being on the grid that counts (well it does in my eyes). As Tony says have fun... And you/we all get faster over time.
I was going to do the MSV trophy but went for the French Trophy in the end...I like the fact that the FT is made up of 2 x 15 min races on same day, TT and MSV is obviously 45min with mandatory pit stop.
Splendid Sir, looking good, what series you planing on racing in? I echo what Russ says above regarding the Tricolore trophy.
ps, I think the D shape steering wheel isn't allowed in MSA events, anyone confirm (or is it open D steering wheels) ?
Sonny
Very nice mate, does look like a cracking car..so you have 3 now, a Race car, Track car and road car lol
To be honest Iv I had space I would def buy one and keep it standard to do track days in to learn circuits.
Funnily enough it was a injector that failed on mine en-route to the Ring, but this is now a slippery slope...how many spares do you take, in the end you will be carrying boxes of spares for spares lol But it is good practice if you're ''in to' track days.
Just make sure the car is in sound condition, i.e recently serviced, condition of belts and that you have checked everything over. Remember the car needs to make it there and back...I.v driven it many times and have broken down 3 times en-route to and from the Ring, as well as having the odd...
Track day events are not insured to allow lap timing...would be a bonus iff the beacon is left "on" though. Marshals would have a field day with that DT timer if they saw that though at Brands lol
Great project mate, coming on nicely
