Haha, I’ve heard that a few times of late with such purchases :p
Most people my age p*ss their money down the drain with items that they can’t get their money back on, while with the same amount I can get items such as this, which actually earn me money through my paid work.
I had to stretch for that money if I was to get it before Christmas you see, plus the fact I saw a 2011 one go for £750 a week or two previous. Ah well, this is a mint one with all the packaging so it should be great :)
It’s quite a while on from this, so I thought I’d resurrect the thread now that I’m some way on from my first Camera.
This isn’t inclusive of other items such as tripods, filters etc. Just the main stuff.
So my first DSLR (after a few crappy compacts from way back):
Nikon D40 w/ 18-55mm Kit...
If absolutely necessary I have taken my 5D Mark II to 2000 without major problems, still some grain though. But it’s worse with the Canon crop cameras.
This photo was re-tweeted by Mercedes-Benz the other day, so it attracted quite a bit of attention with their 300,000+ followers.

As I said on Facebook I think the first one is fantastic! :)
With my 70-200 I like to shoot wide open all the way out at 200mm for car photos, it just creates a nice look such as in the first one which is obviously at a longer focal length. For any wider shots I go for another lens such as my...
Yeah it should be a good lens lineup. I’ll have that range with some great glass, then my 50 F1.4 for some nice shallow DoF when I want it, and the 15mm Fisheye for the odd photo when the time is right.
Right, it’s decision time lens wise. Do I get the Canon 17-40mm F4L or the 24-105mm F4L IS? I’d get the 24-105 if I thought that 24 was going to be wide enough for most situations, so what are everybody’s thoughts?
I’ve used a 430EX and it’s good, just when using it in slave mode it works using infrared, which may or may not be a problem for you, it depends on where you want to place the flash and how far away etc. When I buy some flashes (which I’m planning to do) I’ll be going for the radio ones.
Cheers :) I’m going to get a converter after this new lens at Christmas, then some flashes. This is going to get expensive haha.
Yeah it was a shame, they were coming out well. Have you posted yours of Ash's up yet? I’ve seen the others you took trackside
Thanks guys. I’m going to get some flashes of my own after the lens I’m getting for Christmas, after using Adrian’s (RedCup) I’ve realised how good they are.
So my photos from yesterday, not really that great IMO, photos were taking the back seat because I was a passenger on track for most of the day, but still, I thought I’d post them up :)
