Here's an update following a few changes over the last month or two.
The first was Mountune MP215 being fitted which added a sizeable chunk of cost along with its first service (I've added a notional cost for this as they were thrown in originally as a dealer incentive when I ordered).
The...
So it's the middle one then...they have a 'hugely efficient supply chain and production process'. Makes sense when I think about it.
Makes me happy when I drive it too!
Agreed!
I've spent a lot of time sat behind the wheel of mine now both on the road and on track...and I can't for the life of me find where Ford have cut costs to allow them to price it lower than both the Clio 200T and 208 GTi.
It's either a loss leader for Ford, or they've got a hugely...
Sounds to me like fluid that is/was way past its best combined with barely bedded-in brake pads that have given a very uneven material transfer onto the disc.
How long ago was the fluid you ran last changed/bled?
1st service today, FOC as it was negotiated into the deal when I bought the car. No issues at all with anything. They even managed to not replace the foam air filter. One tyre's down to 2mm so a full set of RE050s will be needed before long...I'm hoping I'll be able to eke them all out to 15,000...
He he he, we're not all going to agree on everything, I get that. I guess from my 172 Cup days I just can't see past the mass that this thing will have to carry especially when a hot-hatch is meant to be just that...and not a GT cruiser/off-roader of sorts. ;)
I'm not saying a 172 would beat it in any scenario, more that despite a decade of evolution, one of the key measures of performance has not moved forwards at all from a rattly old French hatchback.
I'm sure it'll drive really well (inevitable understeer excepted), but unless Audi have come up...
Of course, how stupid of me. 0-60 and top speed is everything right?! :S
I worked on the weight of the A1 Quattro which is 4wd - they come in at 1,430 kgs - which is only a shade lighter than the 51-plate V6 Mondeo I ran - that was a barge!
Light and nimble this Audi is not. Underpowered for...
Wow.
All that money and a power to weight ratio that a decent enough Clio 172 could match, and that's before we get to the current crop of lightweight hatches, most of which would hand it its bhp/ton ar*e.
But it's got an S in the name, and it's an Audi, so it must make sense LOL
Hateful...
I'd consider the Clio...it's got 200kgs (or thereabouts) less than the Megane to lug around and on country roads/trackdays, that matters.
As said though, drive them both, decide yourself.
Torque to log all the ECU data from a bluetooth OBD transmitter, HD Hero 2 to record the video, RaceRender 2 to combine them. To ensure minimal synchronisation issues I always aim to start both the logging and video recording on my GoPro at exactly the same time.
Then I simply use RaceRender2...
I asked the production team at work if they could find an off-cut of leather in one of this season's must have 'colours' and knock me up a one off...
It's a good match but I'm not convinced myself LOL
I'd say do what I did and wait for it. Get used to what the non-MP215 car has, how strong it is, how it feels and responds, it's certainly no slouch in standard form. Then when you finally give in and go for it (I lasted 12,500 miles) you'll really feel the difference, everywhere, every time you...
I had that exact same conversation with a friend yesterday...it's quite ridiculous really that my little family hatchback that does an easy 40-45mpg has the same power (within 5bhp), a sh*t load more torque, and 60-150 kgs less than both of these..
Not at all. It was 202.9bhp before so...
Here we go...this is with it being 500 miles overdue its first service :o
Before and after, what MP215 and 7,000 miles does. The top end is oomph and noise luuurrrrvely. 247 lbsft at 3,000 rpm is a hoot too. Well worth it.
