It always seems to cost more for a lower spec car 'upgraded' to a better spec (like the 1.2 to 1.6 in your case) than buying a 1.6 in first place. Also, make sure that the brakes are up to the job as I think that the 1.6 engined Clios had discs all round (could be wrong) and the 1.2 has drums on...
Chris....Tom has a plan in action. He has completed the groundwork for it, but is just finalising it. All will be revealed soon, don't worry, he's got it covered. :)
Check if cam has been done (and who by!) If its been done by back street garage, then it might be no point in getting it as with the other work being required...could cost a fair bit.
It is coming up to a 10 year old car...so will have faults...
I had that years ago with my 172Cup...used to work for a company doing car batteries and while I was on the road, one of the drivers had loaded scrap batteries onto a flatbed and one had fallen off and smashed my bumper...wasn't impressed. Then put some tape on it while I went up the road to get...
Yep...spot on.
Managed to get one from another car...so all is well. It was the missus who was kicking off and asking me to ask on here if that was the case.
Can't believe how much Renault can charge for parts! :(
Bought a gear gaitor for the 182 about 12 months ago for around £7.80 inc VAT IIRC.
Missus wants one for her 1.2 and its come back from local dealer at £12 odd...he said that there has been a price increase in parts...are they taking the piss?????
The thing which I hated about them was the store in Telford...sales assistant was a prick. (Do you want extended warranty on your Wii?...Nope, its under £200 and can buy a new one if it goes wrong...Oh well, Your loss!)
Manager was even worse...bought the Kinect and wanted the 2 titles for £40...
I had nearly 50 mile drive home from work when mine went, then had trek from Telford to Cardiff then had approximately 150 miles to get the thing done as wanted to go to a specific place. I was deaf in left ear by time I got there!!!! (This was in a 172Cup!)
The Chester thing is just a suggestion. Plus, as it looks like a big one...should be a good opportunity for people to put faces to forum names.
There will be a meet towards end of March but I'm still thinking of ideas for that.
Mart, only real dual carriageway is by whitchurch its all single carriageway apart from a quick 2 mile blat just past Market Drayton and there are a few mobile camera points also (so wouldnt want points)...I wouldnt want to overtake randoms on way up unless REALLY necessary due to the fact we...
Hi Sarah,
No real difference, most of it is placebo.
I've had the standard paper one, an ITG and currently a K&N filter and not noticed any real (noticeable) difference.
The only good thing is that they don't need to be changed over every 12,000! ;)
Fred seems to prefer the paper ones :)
The Chester one is an alternate one...might be an idea while Tom looks into sorting something. I just thought I would put it forwards as a suggestion.
Tom if you need any help...gimme a PM dude. :)
Tom,
I would see what people fancy...as if you try and do something for one person in particular, chances are that the person won't turn up.
We could do a drive...or even (at a stretch) tag along to the Chester meet on March 11th...(looks like a big one!)...
I've had a 172Cup and a 182 and apart from the 182 being more comfortable (more kit inside), there is very little in it...but my 172Cup came out with 176.5BHp on a RR!
Who does alternator recycling? I've got a fooked one which some place that does reconditioned ones would happily use...anyone know of anywhere and what kind of price I could be looking at?
Cheers
Don
Welcome to the club. I'm the Area Rep for the West Midlands and Shropshire...get yourself on the list and I will pm when any events are being organised. Would link it up on here, but am on my phone in a pub in Sutton near Newport, so will have a look when next on pc. :)
We're a good bunch in...
Yeah, the con is that it doesn't affect your NCB (but affects YOU afterwards)!
Had this about 5 years ago when I was with Hastings...it was a chip, not even a crack, but wanted to sort it...just in case! Robbing Cnuts!
Have a look in the classified on here for a Yozza, Prospeed, etc stealth.
I had 172Cup a few years back and had the Prospeed on it...made a change. Definately go stainless as the standard ones a made of cheese (read Poo!)
Depends on what you're after as well...noise? Performance? something...
I'd book it in with Fred...as he can have gander over aux belt and see if thats been done. Aux should have been done at same time as cam, but may not have been...its 3 yrs or 36k whichever sooner. It should be minor service.
