I've been away for 12 days, Le Mans and then touring Europe. Got home, started the clio up and off I went, never doubted it!
Although, 2 things are bugging me, 1 is the alarm is going off sometimes, meaning I have to lock it from the inside switch then lock the side door. And the exhaust keeps...
Brakes all good, done a evening track slot a few weeks ago and they didn't fail!
I need to replace 1 rear, prob do the same. So the car isn't off the road.
Just putting a powerflex insert into the engine mount and the bloody bolt/threads just come off!
Where do I get an engine mount from?! Anyone local to Oxford got one?!
I decided to get a new mount from ECP (£13), seems to have cured the problem. Before it'd fall out after a few miles, it's stayed in for 40+ just now. Honestly couldn't tell the difference between them by feel though.
They are at their most they can be towards the stop on the bracket. It's the left one so the exhaust has to 'slide' toward the back of the car to pop out the bracket.
Confirmed a janspeed.
I've done a fair bit of reading on this, and everyone just points to poly bushes. But, at £100 for 2, it's a little steep!
Once 1 side of mine keep popping out and then sits below the mount. Is there anything I can do to stop it? I was thinking of a 'bung' of some kind on the open side of the...
I've updated my topic with how it went here: http://www.cliosport.net/threads/2005-clio-182-ff-occasional-track-car.804550
Basically the pistons were not quiet in far enough. I'm sure a refurb would have helped with the ease of pushing the piston back in though. How are you bleeding them? With...
Following on from the last (but one) post, my exhaust keeps dropping, and making a racket! May have to shell out for good brackets, they run £60 each
So Yodel did mess up, they arrived last Tuesday, so I had to get it all fitted this weekend. I probably spend 12 hours over 3 days doing the...
Ok, apart from it telling me I've NO oil (confirmed on dipstick) and having to pay £18 for a litre at the services, it went ok. Done the bedding in procedure and they are good. A little squeal at lower speeds from the off side (the one that seemed a tighter spin).
Seem very punchy though, maybe...
g clamp, pushed pistons back a bit more, so there was a bit of wiggle room. pedal has a bit more travel now, feels more like before. Yesterday is was solid almost (because they were binding?)
redone everything and I could spin the wheels freely, even done a 1/4 turn once let go. just done 2...
I changed the front brakes to Brembo HC & DS2500's, as well as done the hoses.
Upon putting it all back together, I could barely turn either of them. So, I done it all again, pistons defiantly pushed back as much as possible etc.Same thing. With the wheel on I could spin them so thought it's...
I'll provide feedback once I get out on the tyres. Probably just be ear to ear smiling regardless!
Currently no. This is my day to day car, so want to keep it OEM+ if you will. Uprated bits, but something I can take the mother in if needed! Maybe next year it'll get retired to just track car...
Weird one, but I cleaned the belts recently. they were filthy! Black obviously hides it well. Unravel and wedge some paper in, voila!
That water is from 1 of them.
Finally getting some upgrades sorted in the form of:
Front DS2500 pads
Rear Brembo oem pads
Front Brembo HC Brake Discs
ATE...
Over 2,500 miles done and not missed a beat. Really enjoy driving it, a bit of a shame that I've not got had any more track days. I plan on doing the brakes over Easter. braided hoses, discs, pads and replace that leaking caliper. Sticky tyres (Federal 595RSR's) are on back order too. Anyway...
Sorted guys, thanks. Went for:
front DS2500 £125
rear Brembo oem pads £22
Brembo HC Brake Discs £59
ATE blue fluid / ATE type 200 £15
Goodridge brake lines £79
Will go nicely with some grippy rubber due early next week too!
thanks guys, put my mind at rest. 18mm be cool too? Otherwise it's to the builders merchants not popping to wicks after work
Of course it's level, I'm not a mentalist!
