I need to replace my pads, and where I live is a pebble drive (large pebbles) although most are embedded in the ground, there isn't much loose stuff. I've got a jack and axle stands.
I was thinking a 3x3ft bit of ply wood, 18mm thick to spread the load. I'd get 3, 1 to jack and then can rest...
I was in the Z4M you followed down the A44. Lovely car! Pulled into a side road in Woodstock, didn't get to wave. Think you'd have gotten past me if I was in my 182!
I've got a weeping rear caliper (see photo), and I want to change the pads, maybe discs too, so figured I'd sort this as well. What are the thoughts on this caliper? Do I just get a new one and swap it out?
My plan was to go yellowstuff, I know there is debate about them. What are the...
Yep, sandpaper for the pins, the other side I just scraped a screw driver on them. Probably not a long term fix, but it's obviously taken a bit of crap off. Not much space and in the rain with a torch I was struggling!
Connectors clean and fog light flashing has gone!
Battery issue was actually an immobiliser issue, I swapped the key housing over and must have done something. The light wasn't staying on though, so didn't think that was the problem. Anyway, held the unlock button with the key in the ignition...

There are loads of posts on fog light issues as well as battery drains?
Don't bother if you can't help, save your anger for something else...
Thanks to everyone else, I'll get cleaning tonight!
Since I got the car, the fog light indicator comes on, on the dash when I brake (not sure if the actual fog light comes on...). I know the brake lights are fine, friends have told me they work. But I imagine it's a bad earth, where do I need to check? The rear light cluster?
Also, I went to...
Spent a bit of time today with the new parts. Some of the old stuff is shocking.
1 of the exhaust brackets was fine, just needed reseating, the other was a mess! One of the thumb grips was perfect under the tape too. The new ones are cheap rubbish, but it's so much better with this already...
Copied from my thread on PH, so I've merged it all up to date. I'll keep both updated.
I've been after a 2nd car to run along side my Z4M for months, years probably. I've viewed a few over the last few months and none of them stood out. This one came up at a reasonable distance, price, mileage...
After a very successful track day, I've come away requiring a few bits, figured 1 topic is fine.
1. Wipers. I've seen 21&18 sets and both 21 sets. Whats best? Also, a 'pool' of water seems to sit at the bottom (middle, between the blades), and it drives me nuts! Do different sizes help with...
Fair enough. Had a good chat with Chris at Beaniesport, very helpful chap. £550 for both belts, dephaser and pump. So, I'll probably get it booked in with him shortly. Ultimately, it's the right way to do it.
I'd say it implies they've done work on them before.
Go on about it? It's a pretty big part of it! If it was free, I'd tell them go ahead! I take it you think thats a rip off? How much would it be to do later down the line?
I've asked for costings, £270 for the dephaser to be changed, I also asked about the water pump (assumed it was on the cam belt) and £130 for that. I'll leave the pump as I can do it independently, but £270 for the depasher when the cam belt is being done seems steep. He's only charging me £200...
