The canon powershot’s tend to be good, that has the same sensor as the one as I found for my Nan, I’ve used it and it takes some nice photo’s, it had some ‘art filters’ too which can be fun if you want to be a bit more creative.
It has 720p video too.
Yep, former touring car, sounded epic too had the v6 in it. My brother had one of the road going versions but the 1.8 briefly in between selling his 172 and starting uni, wasn’t a bad car, he wished that he’d got one of the V6 one for the noise though!
Basically where if you AF on on object, and your focus point in the viewfinder is on the object, the lens will focus in front of where you want to to focus, therefore giving inaccurate focus.
On closer inspection it looks like the focus is slightly in front of the bench, and with it being F1.2 and having such a shallow DoF the bench is out of focus. Depending on if you used AF the lens could be front focusing?
It was more of a spontaneous photo really, I saw the subjects and got the picture just as the steam puffed out of the cup. You do have a valid point though, noted for next time :)
Haha it does seem a bit weird, I’d been going to meets even before that with my brother (Brett on here), so thats the reasoning behind it haha, and I knew quite a few people from the NW area so I signed up, plus to post my pictures :)
Just saturation/contrast/clarity/sharpness tweaking, I was using a polarising filter as well which deepens the colours and takes the shine off the shiny surfaces :) and Thanks mate!
Cheers Ben! The cloudy/overcast lighting was quite good for pictures surprisingly, gave a nice look to them...
I went along to Oulton park on saturday with JamesBryan and Boffey for a wander round and to have a watch.
These are just some pics from the day, C+C welcome :)

Like I said in the “I’ve taken a picture and I kinda like it” thread, number 3 could be excellent with the horizon straightened.
All in all not bad at all for a first effort, my first pics were worse than that.
I’d like to tweak the common phrase to: It’s not the best camera that gets the best photo...but it helps.
I think that the belief that the camera doesn’t matter is a bit cliche now, and is a slightly inaccurate. Yes a good photographer can extract a camera’s ability, but that has a limit, hence...
Hmm I still doubt the ability of it, on the D40 ISO 800 was the absolute maximum before they were unuseable, anyway the bigger screen helps too on the more up to date ones, and the video, and the live view, and the better auto focus systems, and the better sensor in general, but you get my gist...
I agree about the DSLR, but personally I wouldn’t get the D40x, I had a D40 and learned a lot, but I was constantly restricted by the terrible ISO performance (red/green grain on pictures in low light), so I’d get something a bit more up to date, such as a D3100, they’re going reasonably cheap...
