I had this issue. You can just about get a screwdriver through the grill and unlever the lock bit. Once opened, remove the mechanism and just clean and grease it up.
Any tips.. bought a halfords kit, jacking up on the rail bit and it just doesnt jack high enough for me to fit the axle stands under the sills. It's only lowered 30mm, and I dont like relying on just the jack.

This thing has been more hassle than it's worth I think! So.. the sleeve which you lift to select reverse somehow broke. Paid a bodyshop to fix it, when I went to collect it bloke said 'look, nice and strong' and snapped it. He tried something else and seems to of worked. My brass bushes arrived...
