Most specialists on here (I know, I checked) are cheaper for belt changes than the average garage.
My local garage (been using him around 10 years, trust him implicitly) just looks on autodata and charges £35 an hour for however many hours autodata says. Book time on a 172/182 for both belts...

Ph1 172's have a speedo sensor plugged into the top of the gearbox.
Open the bonnet, look at the gearbox and it's at the back by the bulkhead. If it's been in there a while you will need some spinach before you pull it but it's just a case of pull it out, put new one in.
Easy to replace and...
Scrape off the loose crap, paint it all with rust neutraliser, let it cure overnight, cover with Aluminium tape, trim it down as much as possible. Done.
Will look tidier than a bodged filler repair.
