Road driving with fixed wing bucket seats?

I ran my Cup daily for the last two weeks as the Scenic was f***ed so the missus had Iggy. First time for over a year. With harness fastening (an extra 30 secs max), and visibility (mirror use, lots of it), I've had no problems at all. One thing to note Fletch is the depth of the side...

    My 172 Cup

I like. Just the wheels and tow strap in yellow would be enough though.

Picked up new clio 200 today :D

I don't think I've ever seen an all black one. Simply stunning. Better than all the other colours by far.

I'll have 190 next time I go...but I had to take the power steering off to get that high. :rasp:

Mine made 177 with a panel filter, decat, and k-tec stealth exhaust fitted at Surrey Rolling Road. Some Cups are born to be strong! LOL

    Ghost Recon : Future Soldier

Me too. Loved GR:Island Thunder, played that relentlessly. I tuned out when it went 3rd person and futuristic...not my bag.

197 Gearbox fault and absolutely fuming!

I think upgrading a 23k mile gearbox on a 197 to a brand spanking new one for £125.00 is a bit of a bargain to be honest.

197 Gearbox fault and absolutely fuming!

Hope you get this sorted, not good that it's gone so early. Agree with jack_kemp though, Renault could quite easily argue that 75% is a fair contribution given the age of the car and the fact that you can't say for certain that the previous owner wasn't at Santa Pod every weekend giving the...

PF97s = Face ripping stopping power!

Looked good. 51 seconds? So shorter than Brands Indy but with 11 apexes to hit instead on just the 6...might have to give it a whirl. Instructor sounded good...when he spoke ;)

172 Track Car - Work carried out.

It's not about the final figure, or what else that money would/could have got for you though. If I had the budget I'd give mine to Mark Fish with a shopping list just like yours in a heartbeat! To have something, so professionally prepared and to my very own spec (rather than modded according...

Losing my virginity with plenty of pics

Brilliant. Looks like you had a fun introduction. Well done on the track ettiquette by the way. Not many first timers move over and indicate so readily as they all tend to think they're invincible. Echo the above comments though...less lock required, and a bit of tuition and you'd be...

    Interior noise level?

I know! Although the normal test that gives 89-90 on mine is static throttle, stationery, and 75% of max rpm. The readings today, had 70+ mph road noise, full revs, wide open throttle, and induction roar thrown in. Yup.

    Interior noise level?

I've always wondered what 2 hrs of exposure to this on a trackday is doing to my ears. Gave a lift this afternoon to one of our engineers, who just happened to have the works db meter to hand so we headed off to the local DC for a blast. Had a few runs through the gears, keeping it between...

Weight saving on a 172 Cup..?

Yup. Added 10bhp/ton to mine when you also consider the weight savings of Dci manual rack vs normal PAS. Quite involved to do though.

PF97s = Face ripping stopping power!

I find them excellent on track but on the road, the initial bite, compared to how they brake once up to temperature makes them a bit awkward to modulate. Like when you're braking from say 80mph, you get pressure on the pedal for the amount of braking you need, then BAM!, they get a bit of heat...

Weight saving on a 172 Cup..?

Aye, came without them. Mine looks like this and along with a few things you can't see (under-bonnet sound insulation, engine undertray lining, carbon canister, power-steering) I've taken 117kgs out leaving it currently at 904kgs with about another 15kgs to come when I finally swap out the...

    Fletch's 150k 172 Project..

Fletch, consider putting the foam back in where you're removed the rear quarter panels. I took mine out originally, but then realised; a, I saved absolutely nothing weight wise b, the tiniest knock from anything inside the car without the foam in place would dent your bodywork May not be...

    Stripped car + Insurance

I told mine everything about mine, right down to headlining, sun-visor, and airbag removal along with changing the steering wheel and adding the seat + harness. As I wasn't adding anything performance enhancing there was no premium increase and they've just noted "General interior...

New laptop. No idea where to start.

I got what I use from PC world last July. Can't say exactly what the processor spec is, but it's got 4gb RAM, a 500gb HDD, 17 inch screen and CD/DVD driver/writer. It's good enough for all you want plus it handles my video projects no problem. They don't list mine anymore (got it last July...

    A damn good thrashing!

PF97s = Face ripping stopping power!

Rear wiper with a mind of its own...

Sometimes works as it should, mostly it doesn't though. It refuses to wipe at all, or it wipes constantly (not intermittent) even if all wipers are switched off. I'm guessing moisture in it somewhere. Anyone else had something similar? If so, is there an obvious starting point?

Garage have cable tied the brake load sensing valve on my cup

I'd do this. Where in Hampshire are you? I've always used Rentech in Portsmouth, can't fault them, and in 7 years/125k miles I've not once had an issue at MOT time with my rear brakes.
