I just used some halfrauds car paint as it doesn't get that hot. Seems to be fine so far. My last 172 had it polished but I really didn't have the time on this one.
May as well whip the fuel rail protector off at the same time and colour match it! Good going many folk would have binned it when the engine went. It is fun learning as you go though!
Welcome. Bet you thought it'd get better after owning a Scooby. Got 2 guys I work with driving scoobies and they're always fixing the 'reliable japanese cars'!! At least Renault parts are cheap and usually easy to find on this forum. Post some pics, we always want pics. Cheers
Just seen this project. Speechless to be honest, I grew up with Knight Rider, A-Team, Airwolf (old b'tard I know) wanted every one of them for real. Massive effort. Amazing work will follow this thread.
Well I'll keep an eye out as I'd be interested in doing a full RR rather than a quickie at a show with every Tom, dick n Harry queuing for ages no doubt! Does Dan@SJM doing rolling road days or he is too busy.
From what I've learnt there isn't massive differences. If you want it to be a semi practical daily like I did then the 182's don't have room for a spare wheel due to the twin exhausts so that swayed me to the 172 and then i fell in love with the mondial blue colour of my cup. First place to look...
Nice cup. Wouldn't worry too much about all the little noises, its about normal. It is French after all they come as standard!! The wheels are a bit marmite but do grow on you. Happy fettling, it never ends!
Welcome. This forum is awash with invaluable help and info. I was a car noob a year ago with my first 172. While mechanically capable I never dabbled with cars before then. Now on my second 172(cup) and will attempt most repairs/mods using info from this forum, one of best. Usual things to look...
Fitted new 300mm OMP Trecento Uno wheel today. Repsprayed the interior blue trim in mondial blue to match. Restored the exterior plastics back to black rather than fading grey. Diamonds, fog surrounds, wing mirror mounts, rear wiper plastic.
just bought one of these from jjcraceandrally.com for just under £80. Standard polyurethane one 300mm. Cheapest I could find. Hope it helps. Cheers james
Been ages since I posted anything. Had a busy xmas/jan etc. Been doing a few little mods over the last few months. Tidying the engine bay has been a steady little project. Repaint the plenum chamber and rail protector storm grey. Hand painted in yellow the engine text. Colour matched a battery...
Lovely car. Regards the engine light try a code reader cheap one off eBay for about £12 won't do engine management stuff though or try swapping your lambda sensors round. It only takes 20 mins or so and its an easy/cheap fix if it works. Think its 22mm open ended spanner needed. While your under...
if its the same as the 172's then the fuel pump is under the right rear seat. if the top seal is worn or perished then you might get some vapour leak into the cabin. the only way of knowing is to remove the right rear seat, pull up and forward, if I remember its only hooked in. the top cap is a...
Amazing post. Can I ask how much the remap was. I have ktec remap but not overly impressed, came with the car. Was going to visit Dan soon to code out an airbag light.
I supppose if your quick. If I remember there is a thin washer to swap over onto the new sensor. Once loosened it should be doable to do a quick swap. Here's the link for part to give you a better idea...
agree with the above. as the old saying goes if it looks too good...... always dubious of people selling 'their' mates car. don't be put off buying from gumtree though as I found both my 172's locally on gumtree and both were clean well looked after examples. I would look to spend a bit more up...
if the rear wiper doesn't come on then its almost certainly the reverse sensor on the gearbox. as mentioned above its behind the left wheel. its usually a green plug 2 pin connection if I remember that you squeeze to pull off. you'll need a 24mm spanner/socket to remove it. you will either need...
