When I bought my 172 at the start of the year I just phoned my local Renault dealer, got it booked in for the next weekend and they sorted it for free no questions
Haha great thread, good photographs too! The car actually looks pretty tidy considering it's had a tree resting on it's roof. Almost looks as good as this GEM on eBay a while ago: (I can't believe it sold...!)
I've seen people steam them off before, just looks a little messy. I'd use a heat gun and hope most of the glue comes off too. Any glue left behind is a solvent job, tardis would rip through it! Good stuff. Use a razor blade to scrape if you're feeling cocky
I recently took a Albi blue Cup out for a test drive the other day, the colour is so nice in person I was really impressed. Gonna be sticking with the 172 Cup though for the time being!
This may be worth looking at, check your front suspension setup and make sure it's all good looking. Something wrong up the front will upset the back, surely? I'm no expert!
I was actually driving around with a broken front spring a little while ago, must have been broken when I had bought the...
Just checked it out and it looks like fun, you'll be looking at everything differently..."I wonder if I could wrap that". Next thing you know you'll be wrapping your kitchen cupboards!
The big industry leaders do wrapping courses too, but as you might guess it's all about selling their product...
Here's something really subtle I wanted to do on my front end, just enlarging the black areas in matte black for a bit more impact
I actually tested a strip of vinyl, left it on for a bit, and when I removed it off came some lacquer! So small but you could tell it would turn into a complete...
You'll have fun at the course Tails, it's a good skill to pick up because it's always useful! Sticking big stickers to stuff is sometimes more complicated than it seems. Plus, if work's paying for it what's to lose
I design vehicle wraps at work and can fit them to a certain extent, I don't...
Don't forget you don't have to wrap your car in a solid colour, there's a so much you can do with digital print! Very easy for a designer to go over the top mind you. Generally the best fully printed wraps are the simple ones, and they're pretty much 3 times the price as a roll of vinyl...
OP went quiet. I've been lurking this thread for days now!
Just got my Polo back from the body shop, I asked them to respray the front wing, I don't think they blew into the panels very well, I can see a slight difference, what do you guys think??
That Scirocco looks great, bit low though :P
I'm a massive fan of Plasti Dip, I've done a set of wheels on another car and they looked great and lasted all winter. Great stuff, I've got a tin left in the garage and have been thinking about coating some of the plastics on the cup
Re: STOLEN: CLIO 182 M555 JEH
Great news mate, been following the thread since last night. Glad it's turned up! 2 miles away though? A very local nicking scheme they've got going on...bit stupid don't you think. It's like nicking my neighbors Land Rover and leaving it on my drive with no...
You can't wrap over peeling lacquer, it will have to be sanded down. Just sand it, wrap it and never take it off!
In terms of matching titanium silver, you will be able to get close with some 3M/Hexis/Avery products. Chances are it won't be bang on but to the eye it will look more than...
I see you're from Chippy chris, gets cold in the winter doesn't it! I'm just down the road in Charlbury, I know your pain!
The best way to learn how to drive in snow is just to make some safe mistakes in a safe place. Then you'll know what to do if you ever get yourself in a sticky situation!
Plasti Dip is really good stuff, I've already posted several times saying the same thing! Just if you do it yourself, make sure to put enough layers on cos its a pain to remove otherwise!
It may look to be alright but you won't know until you do it. I've seen horror stories of people lacquer being ripped off during application. Not a good look! Older cars, be careful of. 9 times out of 10 you'll be fine but there's always the risk
If you've got a 172/182 just be mindful that the paintwork and lacquer is getting on, they aren't exactly new cars anymore! If you're getting it wrapped you may need to sign a disclaimer saying that you can't do anything if the vinyl affects the lacquer during install or removal.
I did a few...
Looks pretty good on the roll, what make is the material?
We recently did a complete grey carbon wrap on a Vauxhall Calibra, now THAT was too much carbon. Didn't look too bad but it's something I would never have done..!
As above really, get it nice and warm with a heat gun (or your mums hairdryer), and it'll come off in nice pieces. Don't burn the rubber above the windscreen!
I've seen some horror stories, removing a roof wrap and taking all the lacquer off with it. Not a pretty sight! I'm sure you'll do fine...
I love it when my Iceberg is clean and tidy, it's a pretty subtle colour. Looks good with a red sky during sunset...good reflections
Recently bought myself a DSLR, I need to get out there and take a few shots soon!
"Double caution jump. DOUBLE CAUTION JUMP!"
To be fair to the driver though, in some places I had no idea what was road and what wasn't, all looked a bit dusty to me
Don't take it to Renault! Not worth the time or the money. My local garage recently tried to MOT the car, spotted a couple of issues and asked a fortune for work to be done. I took it to an independent garage, they found it needed way more work than Renault originally told me. Got it all done...
Closed the boot and it blew a window out? Exactly the reason I LOVE old Peugeots - so much charm! The engines can go round the world but the rest of the car will shake itself apart and fall to pieces!
I did have a Pug 309 diesel; it came to the end of its life and even in it's final moments...
