Nice one man, just remember to heat it in well to make sure it stays on!
I've got some nice Hexis anthracite grey (can't remember the real colour name) I've been trying out, it's good stuff.
Before I had the Clio I had an Astra Coupe in Europa blue, real good looking car. Had it for 3 years and never gave me any problems! Apart from getting it MOT'd last month and the cat decided to collapse. Came to quite a bill! It'll be ready for sale soon...
You'll love the clio - the ones to...
Pretty much tights on your lights, yeah!
I have seen spi vision used on a black Fabia VRS front end and a black Transporter front end (google images). It looked real good. I just wonder about practicality...
I understand, I don't get on with it either, there there could just be someone who's been thinking about it.
It's one of them funny ones, obviously all the firms who fit it are adamant it's a pass. Yet I bet 9 out of 10 MOT testers would laugh at it and strip it off!
Hi guys,
There's been a little bit of talk about an alternative to tinting lights - Spi vision (or Flyeye). I'm sure everyone's got their different opinions on the stuff, but I recently went to the trouble of testing out a parallel material, not actual spi vision. Works the exact same way...
Don't use fly-eye/spi-vision. Use a light tint film instead. Will last longer and you will be able to see where you're going at night!
Other than that, good luck and have fun
Marty, buy a can of the stuff and get spraying. It's pretty forgiving, it can cover up slight curbing on alloys to a certain extent too. You would only buy the bigger stuff and use a spray gun for more elaborate projects
I'm only guessing at what someone would charge as labour. It'll depend where you go.
If I were to do it? Ideal situation is a day's uninterrupted work at my imaginary empty unit with a decent spray gun and steady hand. £250 day rate minimum? Gotta cover those imaginary overheads!
Not sure, maybe £300 to £500? If you were to add up the cost of the materials:
10L of dip for about £140
Spray gun (you get what you pay for! Or just use a mates..)
Realistically it's pretty cheap - probably about £160-£200 once you've bought other bits and pieces and given the car a detailed...
It's really good stuff, I just have a few pointers
Tins are cheap right now, it's all matt finish but you can add a gloss coat (or 4). Take your wheels off to spray them, it's a good 3 hours work if you wait for each layer to dry properly. Seriously consider 1 can per wheel, the thicker you put...
I'm thinking it may cost around £100 - £150 to get them done (well).
I'm not quite sure what percentages the fiesta's came with factory standard, i believe anywhere from 5% limo black to 17%, I just spent 5 minutes googling. Phone up some local firms and ask for prices, they're the real guys to...
Old Peugeot diesels - now that's cheap motoring at its best!
XUD7 turbo diesels are my favourite engines ever. I've had two sheds so far and loved them both.
I bought my Iceberg 172 cup for £2500 about 4 months ago, cracking car, really enjoying it. The day after I got it the backbox decided to detach itself, and it is just going through its MOT and it's got a few brake and suspension issues which I'm working on. Probably spent about £800 fixing it...
Couple of quick snaps after a clean and polish. Need to put on some new plates and Fabia splitter (all in the boot right now). I've been wrapping the badge different colours every few weeks just to mix it up a little - aside from that it's all pretty standard. Apart from the Superlegerra's it's...
No aircon? Join us in our 172 Cups!
Try your local garage for a price, see what they have to say about replacing/repairing, especially if you don't really know what you're doing.
You can go down the route of digital printing on wrapping film and this is totally where you can set your car apart from everyone elses. I've made some designs for a clio v6 wrap with a real subtle light to dark blue gradient. You can start adding logos or designs etc. You can get proper...
I'm amazed that this is pretty much road legal, after working with the stuff I never thought of putting it over headlights. We normally use it for car/trailer windows.
Got me tempted to see how it looks on mine but I don't think I could live with it. Wouldn't it be good if you could order this...
I watched a mate of mine use a 3M kit on his clio headlights the other day, they were quite bad but cleaned up really well. Didn't know that they often fog up again quick, I better go tell him!
Not all vinyl is straight off the roll - you can print any colour onto a roll of white but a like for like colour match is a very rare thing. You can get damn close but it will never be bang on if you compare side by side and really scrutinising it, but take a step back and nobody would know the...
Have a look online for a local sign writing firm - they will be able to design, produce and fit whatever you like on your car. I wouldn't be able to give you a name of an online firm who just print and send out. In my experience quality is a big issue, and then you have to fit it yourself which...
Easy to do mate, either let the sun do the work on a hot day, or aim a hairdryer over the area you want to strip. Then even get your credit card to lift a corner and work your way along. Once it's all off you may be really unlucky and have a load of glue left behind. You'll need any kind of...
Plasti Dip is great stuff. £300 for entire car, realistically will look good for 6 months then start showing some wear. You have to keep it clean and don't let things get baked on by the sun. Removing it? As long as it's been sprayed thick enough it will peel like dry PVA glue on your hand...
Plasti-Dip is a great temporary/semi permanent way of changing your car's colour. Although doing an entire car you will need to keep an eye on it and keep it maintained.
I sprayed my wheels on my old Astra coupe in Matt Black last summer. I used half a can per wheel, but really you should use...
As above really, the best way would be to digitally print the colour. Depends on the printer operator but this can take quite a while matching to your paint. You're looking at about 100 quid for materials, little tip for the printer's time, and at least another 100 for fitting. And after all...
Well at vaguely £10 per metre for the larger sizes they sell I wouldn't bet my life on it being that great. But that's talking about wrapping your car in it. It would probably stay on for a week and the slightest bit of sunshine would make it fall off. But maybe for smaller bits of trim it could...
If you don't like the look of the black carbon effect, buy some grey, red, white, blue carbon effect vinyl. They all look great! White in particular - it's subtle
