Both valve (supertech) and spring (catcams) are broken - will put the photo tonight. Respective piston and cylinder are damaged. Need to build the new engine :(
Any ideas if it is possible to buy just two inlet and two exhaust Supertech valves?
Yes, ECU was a bit "overfuelled" ... And my older manifold was also not the standard 182, but some custom designed and mapped for bigger input-output head channels etc, ... Unfortunately I was not yesterday all the day on the track, leave it 1-2 hours before this happens ... As I was told that...
We didn't go to dyno, just make some light ECU correction in the garage. Finished late Saturday night to go to the trackday at Sunday morning. It was the last trackday in this season, so I wanted to test the engine ... did this ;)
Found thet Clio 197/200 thermostat is 75C degrees too and is fully compatible with Clio 172's. P/n is 8200772994. And there are two aftermarket replacements:
Vernet p/n 6047.75/J and Gates p/n TH45975G1 - price is 10-15.00 GBP only!
We take off the head, bolt the exhaust manifold to the head, then put the head back, and set the timing again. Otherwise it was not possible to install the manifold to its place ...
The second what I found that to install the PM manifold I need to take-off the engine ... or cylinder head. Otherwise it will not fit. And I need to reallocate ignition coil pack. oil catch tank etc...
So, new PM's exhaust manifold was installed at Friday. First of all - I found that it is 64mm (2.5") while my current exhaust is 60mm - so I will need to make totally new exhaust ... later =)
One more idea about the crank preparation. I do not remember where I got it, but somebody post the difference between the crank at standard Clio 197:
And Clio R.S. R3:
Any comments?
I hope it will be fitted today or tomorrow as soon as we have the trackday at Sunday. The s**t is the Aeroflot lost the box with the exhaust on my way back to Moscow and they found it only yesterday. So I will be able to remap it only on the next week (the dyno doesn't work at weekends).
Not yet. The used are very rare here, in Russia - and the new one is too expensive :( For current setup I can easily found a used crank (or engine bottom) from any F4R engine (Megane, Scenic, Laguna) as there are a lot of such cars at the local market. But only 30-40 Clios 197/200 was sold in...
Yes, and I hope to expand the torque too ...There are not only length but the weight issue - the small conrod end, wrist pin and the piston will be much lighter then now!!!
Tool Steel wrist pins - 18mm x .115" (2.9mm) walls x 2.470" (62.75mm) - weight is 63g. Will need to cut them to ~40mm...
This is what I wrote in order form:
Part number: MFRxx
Description: Steel Zink plated -6JIC male fittings 4 x Single fuel rail, for Renault Clio 172 inlet manifold (y2003 F4R736 engine), LHD car, Pico injectors
I use Jenvey
- it is with AN-6 on both ends. And Torques UK braided PTFE hose and fittings (black):
You can order to do it for "Bosch style" or "PICO stylle". OEM Clio 172 are PICO style (really OEM are Magnety Marelly IWP042). I use Megane 225 injectors, they are PICO style too (while...
Got new conrods for my next engine build. The top one is Woessner, standard 144mm centre-to-centre length, while the new one is "+4mm" - i.e. 148mm. And new one is for 18mm wrist pin.
I ask this question because there are very good and reliable main bearings from ACL Racing and I prefer to use them in my projects. However they have such tags (as they are for F7R engine) and so they can not be installed to F4R without this additional cutting!
If you have any spare hydraulic lifter - just disassemble it, remove inside and measure the internal diameter. Then go to eBay and order some aluminium rod of this diameter. Cut it a little bit longer then fit inside the lifter to "full open" it ... then go to the person who will assemble and...
Do you mean Conrods Big End bearings or Main bearings as well? I look around, and I can not found proper ACL Main Bearings for F4R engine (i.e. without pin lock) :(
This is specific for competitions I take part in. It is "timeattack": 3-4 laps and the best one goes as result. And the "normal" temp in July is 35 degrees (in shadow).
And yes, I have good PWR Performane rad with big Spal cooler (I have two Spals: one is thin and light, but less aiflow and...
