Just discovered the gearbox end bolt doesnt fit the powerflex bush, bolt is 18mm, bush hole is around 16mm.
Edit... being stupid and put the centres in the wrong bush ends... time for bed zzzz
Got refurbed exhaust mount brackets and powerflexed rear exhaust mounts on.
Started on the dogbone mount, with the car on stands access is a b*****d as the bolt on the big end is blocked by the gear linkage. Pulling the old rubber out is surprisingly easy, lots of silicone lubricant, clamps and...
Front calipers painted and looks decent.
Got some exhaust mount plates yesterday gave them a scrub and a few coats of hammerite.
Can now get my 2nd powerflexed mount bracket fitted and exhaust is done.
Took the car out for a quick spin, heat shielding is working a treat but still need to do coolant flush and replace thermostat and temp sensor. Handling is still quite poor, pulling out of my road it felt like the steering rack shifted, noticed it a few times on the drive back too. I have some...
Got some heat shielding on friday and cut and fit it all in place today. Ran the car at 2k rpm for a few mins with the bonnet up and again with the bonnet down and checked heat behind the brake fluid and coolant reservoirs and they are much cooler than previous.
Was checking the heat shielding and sound deadening last night and not happy with the amount of heat passing up from the manifold. Wrapped some ducting in heat reflective tape and stuck it round all cabling directly exposed to the heat. Ordered some extra heat shielding mats to stick around the...
Finished off cleaning the interior last night, looks good as new. Will get some pics later on.
Just fitted some philips silver vision indicator bulbs, looks so much better.
Did a bit of a tidy up of the interior, the door inserts where in a right state. A film of grease and god knows what was caked over the passenger side, hit it with some autoglym engine & machine cleaner and took it right off then hit it with autoglym vinyl and rubber care and it came up really...
And the 182 is alive again! Spent a few hours arsing around with the starter wiring so it would clear the ignition connector / bolt and allow the heat shield to pass over too. Properly shitty design.
Changed the sparks whilst i was at it.
Fired her up and a bit of gassing and started no...
My 182 currently has v12s up front and ps3s on the rear. Been considering going ps3 or eagle f1 all round. Used the f1s on track on a previous car and they grip really well. Had the ps3s too on a road car and they are awesome on wet and dry.
Wanted to get the car started up so new bolts and gasket on the inlet manifold and throttle body, air intake and coil pack refitted. Reconnected the battery terminals, as soon as the negative went on, the car started to crank. Ignition was def not on and fuses where checked and cleaned before i...
After alot of buggering around, and 2 snapped drill bits i concede defeat. Bloody exhaust hanger plate that i took off, with 2 sheared bolts, aint playing. Soaked the bolts with wd40 over 2 nights, drilled half way through one bolt but easy offs aint budging it and dont want to waste anymore...
Really like what you guys have done with the clio so far. Looking forward to more pics! Im on google chrome on my phone and cant see some of the images in your posts, just shows a grey cross. Can see them in your reposts tho
Got one exhaust mount back on and the backbox sits much better, heres a before and after.
The 2nd exhaust mount (looks newer) has alot more rubber and is proving more difficult to clear. Have 2 sheared bolts on the exhaust mount bracket aswell, bolts where rusted as hell.
Took one of the rear exhaust mounts off tonight, cut out the original rubber and fitted powerflex black. After a few hours of swearing and modifications, to the lips on the new bush, i got it in the mount using a couple of g clamps.
Couple of pics of the car, got bored waiting for wd40 to work...
Cheers @bloke
Fiddly as f**k it is. Managed to get the heat shield down the driver side between exhaust manifold and the brake fluid resorvoir. Once it was down there was enough room to manevour.
OK starter motor is wired back up. New plastic conduit and heat resistant clamps to keep them snug. Managed to angle the red cable away from the exhaust manifold and when i get the heat shield on it should be well guarded.
Got my steering rack bushes today to replace the swiss cheese ones...
New bits have arrived. Starter motor heat shield, inlet manifold gasket, thermostat housing gasket, thermostat, coolant temp sensor and ngk spark plugs. And 10l type d coolant.
No real progress on the car since the weekend. Hopefully have my starter motor heat shield tomorrow so will have a crack at fixing that on.
Checked wish bones, steering rack and inner rod & track rod ends again. 99% sure new steering back bushes will fix the steering problems, couldnt find any...
Cheers @gilmour182 @Jack!
I got access to the starter from the top after removing the top inlet. Will try from wheel arch. Does the heat shield mount vertical or horizontal? Ive got no refernce point as 182 hasnt had a starter heat shield since i got it.
Cheers
