After replacing the sensor kit (£50 parts from Renault), it turns out the actual problem was the starter motor "control" wire (single wire with spade connector). It simply was corroded and wasn't making good contact. It was the wiggling of different sensor cables that moved the whole loom enough...

Thanks Fred, so your saying that by me wiggling the cable (pictured), its moving a cable around further up the loom on the crank TDC sensor? So it's not worth trying to clean then, as its intermittent? Would you recommend I just get a new sensor and wiring kit from Renault (they say the design...

Is this the oil level sensor, and would a bad connection prevent the car from starting?

This is preventing my car from starting intermittently. I have to wiggle it and get someone to repeatedly try to start the engine until I move the cable into a certain position for it to work. It's just on the right of the alternator and is connected to the same loom. Clio MK2 PH2 1.2 2004...

Keep it clean, I wouldn't waste money on mods. Save the money and you'll be able to get something quicker in a year or so!

Get a set of Bosch Aerotwin's! The lasted me 2 years and I do around 2k miles per month.

- Exhaust clamp needs replacing as its not sealing correctly - so it's blowing loudly and I look a right tit! - Near-side rear light needs replacing. It's cracked and causing disco lights on my dash due to wet electronics! - Burning a little bit of oil :quiet: - It's dirty :sleepy:
