There are a few theories about the 2.5, I had my old one done as a preventative measure when I had the belts done. But I think one of the things Ford did do is put a cooling channel between the cylinders whereas the 2.3 T5 doesn't have this channel. Which when you block mod and drop the shims...
I haven't seen anywhere that just sells the shims. They seem just to be cut from some sheet metal anyway!
My belts are due by next year, so I will take mine to Tim Williams near Leicester to go. He charges £550 all in at the moment. Which is the best price around I think.
The current feeling on shimming the head is (on FocusSTOC)...... if you need belts anyway it just makes sense. If not, then just roll the dice to see if you are one of the few that will go.
Cracked liners seems to affect standard as well as mapped. Basically a lottery!
Check using the Corsair software. You can always up the fan speed if you want to try that. But I'd not be too worried with those temps to be honest.
H100i on a 4770K o/c to 4.4Ghz idles around 35-40 degrees.

I'm happy to be doing it wrong. I shed 0 tears on turning that key. That being said the 6.3 would give me extra schnitzel length and makes baby Jesus cry.
