Most ph1 172s are titanium, there are small number in iceberg and then all the Mk2 172s were iceberg. Titanium cameback for the 182. Dynamques etc. were Platinum until around 2006, dunno what that the latest silver in those is called.

Only thing to add is that its not in the insurance companies interests to over catagorise a car as it would affect the salavage value. Something very odd with this one as I cant understand with something like a Vee why someone would repair it give the cost. As said, its only fit for the track now.

I drove a Mk1 RS recently (alonsgide an R32) and was so disappointed. The engine felt really strangled and had real lag and lack of urgency. I had lusted after one so long.. really burst the bubble and as you say the interior is hard to swallow - mainly the dash imho.

Cant comment on the janspeed for the 182, but on the ST the quality and sound is excellent.

Sorry to say these are not the best exhaust for the `82. I drove Maz's loads of times and it was littered with problems of rattles and fitments! Sure she had 4 exhausts+ and in the end just got rid. They also kill the standard mounts in no time:(
