Meh. The amount of AST's that have to go back for issues, combined with how bloody long it takes to get a set. I'm not sure they're all everyone makes them out to be.
AST 2's maybe but they're mega money.
That seems to be what everyone concentrates on with bigger breaks - stops quicker
Like you say - adding braking force won't change the point where the tyres lose grip and the wheels lock up - to do that you need to look at brake bias and weight shifting during braking etc...
I'd never go...
Oh jesus. Are you trolling?
This has been addressed 800x
Cliosport is the only car forum in the world where people argue till their last breath that 4pots are pointless lol
It actually makes it easier to not lock up as they are more progressive than single pots
Less unsprung weight =...
DS2500's don't need warming up at all
DS3000's are a track pad and aren't very good from cold. The DS2500's I have work just like normal road pads when cold (first mile or so) and then when you get some heat in they bite like mad.
If you're doing 80/20 road/track use then Billies all day long.
When I stripped my car out and got a bit serious they started being too soft for track use, but they were lovely for road use.
Wow
I think the DS2500's are FRP502H which are about £60-70 a set when you shop around
That's one of the things I loved the most about the wilwoods - the DS2500's are cheaper than they are for standard calipers lol
Don't put copper grease on race pads - the heat causes the grease to melt and run onto the discs
I run DS2500's in my wilwoods and they make no noise at all
My plan is to just get out and photograph more
Because last year I was renting/borrowing lenses and didn't have much spare time I didn't do a lot - but now a few of my Tin Top photos have been featured I really want to push to go to all the BTCC/Tin Tops/French Series races this year. Now...
Yeah I'm using a 1.2 16v column&ecu on a DCi rack.
The problem with DCi racks was finding one that hadn't done 150k. The first few I tried had loads of play in them.
Uh-huh. That's kinda why I spent the time going to 2 scrap yards and an afternoon at renparts trying all the racks they had on the shelves
Because Fred was convinced the DCi was identical to the 1.2 16v - and everyone was telling me they were all slower, and I really didn't want to fit a...
I love chair.
Running it in 4th assuming that was the closest to 1:1 on the rollers?
Unless that's another rolling road myth and you're about to correct me lol
What about transmission losses? Do the sadev boxes lose less due to straight cut gears?
Yes I know. But the racks move the same distance in both directions. Hence why the inner and outer tie rods are all the same length.
So more turns = slower rack.
No I'm not sure - I'm sure the ones with part numbers I posted are the same rate, hence why I posted the part number.
I tested...
If you got 198bhp then that was due to the wrong gearing because of the sadev or a VERY optimistic set of rollers
They ran a blue printed engine, a cone filter and a slightly remapped ecu.
They would have been near as damnit 170bhp.
FYI last years clio cup racers made 205bhp - they're based...
Turns lock to lock = speed of the rack :)
This is getting way too complicated - ignore everything you've just read about stops and s**t.
The DCi and Cup racks take 2.7 turns to go from lock to lock so are QUICK - all the other clio racks take 3.25 or more so are slower. There is no...
No - they were fully built racks when I tested them with inner tie rods, plastic spacers and everything fitted
It's simple - the 1.2 16v (and probably most of the rest of the non-sport clios) rack has more turns lock-to-lock which makes the wheel lighter. It's supposed to be an easy car to...
Yes - both the cup rack and the DCi rack is 3.25turns without the spacers and 2.7 turns with the spacers
I wouldn't recommend fitting them without the spacers tbh. Why would you ever need more turns to lock?
Fair enough - that can be done by looping a pipe from the input and output on the 172 cup rack - filling it with fluid.
IMO though that's very very difficult to do with the rack on the car - so you'd probably still be best lowering the subframe down and taking the rack of to fit the modified...
^^ Ignore that.
If it's getting no effort then the rear calipers have seized up
Same thing happened to mine, I explained to the tester about the vosa thing and he said that was fine but they were showing no effort
I unbolted rear calipers, cleaned the sliders up and regreased, pushed the...
If you read the thread (I realise it's a bit long now though) I have a DCi rack on my 172 cup - it's identical turn-to-turn. But you have to make sure you get a proper DCi rack as the 1.2 16v ones are sold as being the same but they're more turns
I posted all the part numbers
Retrofitting...
Nope - it's all stored in the cloud (saved games and purchased stuff)
You'd have to re-install the game to the new hard drive but you wouldn't lose anything
Hrmmmmmmm maybe the 360 - the xbox one controller feels very plasticy I have to agree. And where the two parts of the casing join on the back cuts into my fingers after a few hours play.
I wouldn't say it's the best. The PS4 ones tbh piss all over the xbox one controller from a design point of...
I can't answer the williams specific questions I'm afraid but I'm pretty sure the ECU isn't coded to the motor - I've seen a few people now who have had to swap ecu and it hasn't caused any issues.
And yeah getting a key is ideal - I didn't and had to drill out the ignition barrel lock so I...
