Mine gets a good kicking everytime i go out in it and has been good to me! The only time its broke is when i left it on the drive for a month and a coil blew, i blame that for not being used though... been used often since and no probs

The time taken to do it or the intervals that you do them? 60k or 5 years iirc or quite a while to do it, mine took the best part of two days to do the kit, waterpump, aux belt and general service.
