5th gear tests showed that unless its done properly with no moisture in the air lines its worse than normal air. so unless its done by race teams your prob wasting your time as most places seemed to be incompetent suppliers
iv run track tyres on front and road tyres on rear. i did it for same reason as you to save some money.i had no bother in my focus. rear was slippy but i just changed my braking style to suit. no trail braking for instance but now i run full set of federals and they are great value for money.
just read the other thread. had a real laugh at the wrong transit. sorry. but look forward to your updates here. im assuming them ports are not factory? looks like someone has had a go at it diy method. the grinds dont go that far in so have they just done it in situ without the head off?? :S
i cant comment on the specifics of clio setup as i dont have one sorry. il leave that to the other guys but i would imagine factory specs would be a little toe out on front so just get a factory tracking setup and 1.5 camber sounds fine for the road. on track its not enough though.
one of the reasons front wheel drive cars are toed out is because under acceleration the wheels want to pull themselves forward and this causes toe in under power. if you set up parralel you will be toed in most of the time.
iv run my fastest lap time with track tyres on front and road tyres on rear at llandow circuit. i agree its not advisable as you get a loose rear but in fwd loose is fast lol
i buy my rsr's from mytyres too. i dont know if there is different grades but value for money is superb still. they were 1.7 seconds quicker around llandow than toyo proxes 4s and the toyos cost more. i cant afford the top tyres like dunlop dirrezas or 888 so i have to stick with the feds. id be...
If i didnt love my focus so much my next choice would be a 172 as chip says. mx5s without turbos or itbs should be banned from track days lol. they annoy me on every track day i go to. they are so flipping slow and are just a moving road block backing everyone up.too common as a track car in my...
i run 3.5 degrees camber and braking feels no different on my focus to when iv had less camber. not saying it cant affect it but it will be minimul if any i think unless you go silly amounts. id set the ride height without people in the car personally.
and that kit is bump steer correction not...
i think theres an engineers rule that a nut should have about 1.5 of the thickness of the bolt in the nut. so for instance a 10mm stud would need the nut to have 15mm at least of bite on the stud. i dont know if this rule applies to wheels but i cant see it being a bad rule to follow. the thing...
i think a big part of your problem is there in the pics. the arms are facing up.the shape of the arms makes it look worse but the point you should concern yourself with is think of a straight line from the centre of the subframe mounting bolt out to the ball joint.the very worst you want is...
no problem. have a look at this link for a better understanding. also the pics tell a better story than i can describe.

lower centre of gravity is the what we all want but to low messes up the roll centre. its quite complicated to explain roll centre so just google it and look at pics to show how its calculated. its based around the angle of your lower arm. it should always be slightly tilted down from its...
how low is too low on the front of a clio before the roll centre is to low? front looks very low if on standard ball joints. if roll centre goes to low front end goes horrible
Gotta love the welsh aye. my intention was not to misguide so thats why i put ? marks after my suggestions.now i can see the pics on my pc but he did ask for suggestions before he raises the rear. so thats what i gave. im all for rake though so not dissagreeing with that.
to be honest the only...
couldnt see pics on my phone so just went on the fact he had 15mm rake. while im at in my short time around here iv come to the conclusion your a miserable old man who thinks because hes a amatuer racer no one else opinion matters.
I would try and improve the grip on the front before you do work that will reduce grip on the rear. What about more neg front camber? Maybe -3 ? Toe out on front? Experiment with disengaging front arb if springs are to stiff on front? If these fail then adjust the rear last resort I'd say
isnt cat d minor damage?. i think d is no structural repairs so could be something as simple as the paint was ruined by a keyed scratch or brake fluid etc. or maybe stolen and wheels interior nicked possibly. shame the owner who had the car at the time didnt pass on the info of exactly what...
i agree the difference is huge when you adjust camber on a top mount with rack on strut but with the camber bolts its not the same effect. with bolts the hub tilts back but the strut stays in relatively the same position. im prob not explaining myself correct chip as im a dunce really lol.
on...
on a civic the rack is connected up on the strut so altering camber on the hub bolts does not move the strut in or out like top camber mounts so tracking is mostly unchanged. i can see on the clio the rack connects to the hub which creates a different effect on the tracking. i did know about...
your opinion is quite strong in this thread to bin the washers and this is wrong and bad advice. no one should listen to that and i feel strong about that but im not out to insult you so sorry for that. its impossible to get more camber without the washer if your setting them correct. you must...
