I always laugh at the comments people make regarding power figures on here.
If it runs over 172bhp the rollers are broke.
If it runs under 172bhp your cars broke.
There are apparently no prizes for anything other than 172 at the fly and 152 at the wheels
The cars worth about a grand more than that.
You would have to be mental to spend that money without looking to add another £500 and buying another complete car for it:S
Wouldnt say its a steal but its accuratley priced, if you can negociate 100-150 off it then id say your doing well.
Rust isnt a known problem mate but like anything else check for it anyway.
I paid £3850 for my Phase 1 back in March 2008 and that only had 44k on it.
£2500 will get you a good condition Ph1 tbh.
£3000-3400 will secure you a seriously low mileage minter but then fun can be had in any of them that have been looked after tbh
tbh i wouldnt be busy asking people what they think, id be on the phone right now.
That wont be for sale long.
I never post links to cars im after, your only attracting an audience to a potential buy ;)
...toward Mosspark, a chap with specks checking out the wee darlings in the short skirts, dynamite they were aswell...
I was in the 106 GTi also checking them out, i wanted to get out and touch them :dapprove:
Anyone giving it?
Very good mate, theres always going to be limitations as to what can be done.
My old boys a mechanic/engineer and as i said the same as you he always said theres no substitute for cubic capcity.
Theres eye for individuality though ;)
I gather this is the 1.5 DCi engine variant? Thats fair gains there, you generally find that diesels across the board respond better to remaps regarding torque and mid range acceleration.
