Gave it death on the way home, certainly no loss in performance. Jord diagnosed as soon as I popped the bonnet. :)

Back plate isn't really modified mate, just standard but the holes were cut slightly lower than central to move the filter up slightly

Jord has just been round to check it out. The verdict = Dephaser pulley. Also need a new solenoid as well. Not as bad as I thought :) Restored faith :)

Yeh, might bin that off first, see if it makes any difference.

LOL, i need to blow the cobwebs of i think. Might remove my oil cooler as well, as im sure its started from that.

Had new rocker cover seal, and cam seals etc when i had the lifters replaced. I rather it just blow up :) LOL! :) Its never smelt of oil before, not like this anyway. Hmmmmmmmm TBH, it hasnt been driven hard for a while, just general pottering to work and back.

Re: Engine f**ked... Like you say, still runs mint. Get a smell of oil when i give it death. Had it for 2 years now, really wanted to go the ring in it one last time in august, but dont want to keep chucking money at it. Might just keep running it until it dies :) Buy a second hand...

Re: Engine fucked... Chees Jord. Yeh, on idle its not that bad, over 2k ish you can hear it, but then it gets drowned out by the bodies. Oil pressure and level seem good.

I had that bit at the back cut off. Loads better now. As the shaft I had from Renault split on it.

Got a tapping noise again, seems very loud, and at certain revs my dephaser is making a noise as well. Any ideas if they could be related? Giving up now :( Thanks Ben
