if its clicking it sounds like the hard drive controller board is fubared.
Taking it out the enclosure and connecting it to your PC directly is worth a try but I wouldn't get your hopes up.
Sounds fucked to me.. you might catch it on a good day and be able to retrieve your data off it.. but if you do get any access to the drive at all then make sure thats your first priority.
I have a 1TB external drive (well actually I have three ;) ) but they are all set to 500GB mirrord raid.

ye, go into a command prompt and "cd" to the dir where the pics are stored. You can IIRC use the tab key to autocomplete directory and file names. issue the "dir" command and see if the files are listed. Use the "attrib" command to view and modify...
I have an Ipod video 30GB, they are overpriced and the battery is well s**t when watching video back.. 1.5 hours if your lucky (slightly better on the 60GB IIRC).

well im typing this on ma n95. Best phone lve owned ! Only downside is battery, but thats only if u constantly use all the features like gps video music internet radio etc.

Unfortunatly the file they transfer is not big enough so it doesnt give enough time for the connection to ramp up in speed.. still not too bad though :)
