I am selling 2x Stereophonics tickets, standing, at Sheffield on Tuesday 9th March.
Can't make it now due to personal reasons but seen them on there first gig of the tour in Vega, Denmark where they were amazing, mix of new and older songs, and seeing them again next week at Birmingham NIA...
There will be your normal carbon build up round the top of the bore, use scotchbrite or something and clean that off, then run your finger up the bore and see if it rises around the top
If its burning oil it may just be the extra carbon, so I would guess valves stem seals, i would have thought you could see any damage of the guides.
Is it just in one cylinder or or all four the same?
Hmmm would not have thought that much build up in that mileage but maybe?
Did they use second hand valves due to budget?
Like I said I don't know car engines but in my experience if a valve guide is gone then there are obviously cracked/broke!
If its using oil I would have said valve stem...
Iv not seen a reno head but have seen plenty of bikes ones.
What sort of mileage have you done since it was rebuilt? I reckon enough miles would do that, are there some valves worse than others? As in where only some replaced when the cam belt went? Was the head even decarbed and cleaned up...
Wikipwedia may still have the old info as we held it originally with 4 cyl turbo and then a 2.6 now done with 2.8!
Ignore that, loads of rubbish I just looked and it is updated!
Yes work for the Powertec, a sister company that build the engines. Not sure how much you can really class the car as a drivable road car but people do buy them for the road!
Amazing round any track though!
We have done it again!

Amazing car, hopefully in a few years time will be doing it again with a bigger motor!
There is no way you could get another engine loom to try just to be sure? Or an ECU of a car that is running?
Two simple things that I guess you have checked anyway, not trying to insult but its normally the little things missed!
The battery earthed properly and all the earth's are to...
It maybe, but I don't know much about renaults!
Have you tried taking the fuel rail and injectors off the car and trying to start it? Should show you the spray patterns then?
Well i reckon check fuel pressure is holding then, also check spark (which I think you have done!), and check the injector is firing, remove it plug it into loom and then turn it over!
If you wanted as a last resort you could send your injectors to me and I can flow them in work and make sure...
Also, and possible making myself sound very stupid here, does this not have a pump within the tank as well? And if so is that going to be able to keep up with your uprated pump?
Sorry if I am being stupid here, as I said not experience with these engines/cars!
I don't know much about these engines as spend my days working with bike engined cars, but sounds like fuel to me? Sounds like as soon as the injectors open fuel pressure is dropping hence not running for long?
I would find out what pressure you should be running then getting a gauge on...
