I think it has to be accepted by anyone buying these cars that few of them will be mint examples. Most of them have been press cars, used and abused by motoring hacks. Chris alludes to this in his piece. I suppose what you are buying is a bit of RUK heritage.
I wouldn’t say a 1970 1300 escort is exotic but you wouldn’t get much change out of £10k. Put an RS badge on and an average trophy sale would just about pay for decent interior for a mexico
It’s with same dealer who listed it 2 years ago so maybe a cross over with photos and mileage. Certainly the description is the same as the last ad.
I think really any minor nitpicking is missing the point with this car, youre buying a ex showroom car that has done 11k not a car that is dressed...
Newly into Tier 3 so finding jobs to do. I can’t believe I’ve not done the Trophy before.
Whipped the wiper arms off then stripped the top covers. Removed the little tray on the drivers side, the rubber wiper spindle covers and set to with the hoover and a long handled paintbrush.
Plenty of...
If it’s a lease (which I think it is) and not a PCP then its just about basically a long term hire of the car.
Amongst my many other cars I’ve had various Kia‘s for the last 4 yrs or so on a friends and family scheme through a mate of mine at a main dealership. I’ve paid about £160 a month...
I have a Trophy and a 200 and according to info on here my AG 200 with cup spoiler, RS Monitor, carbon dash etc is one of 4 UK cars but doubt it will ever be worth what my Escort RS2000 I bought brand new in 1979 is now worth.....unfortunately I sold it to buy an engagement ring back in 1983. 😩
oh I know what you mean, over the years I’ve owned and sold a Mk 1 and. Mk2 escort RS2000, a mk2 Mexico, 2 x RS 1600i, 3 x RS Turbo, Sierra Cosworth 3 door and Sapphire . I dread to think the total value of those now!
I moved my 182 cup on last year and thinking of slimming down a bit more so I’m left with the AG 200, mint with 29k miles and full history, perfect paint, interior and engine bay , full factory options or the 182 Trophy perfect paint, perfect wheels, interior and engine bay 70k Miles, loads of...
Thanks pal. It’s not essential so I will give it a miss. I’m not going near trying to take the aluminium kick plate off. I replaced one a few years ago, mine are unmarked and I would end up distorting them to get them off to get to the screws. I’ve had the 7 underneath fasteners off and cleared...
Glad it all went ok and I was able to help with the new panel.
As you say once you fitted one once it’s easier the second time.
The only other advice I would give to anyone fitting a “used” one is change the bulbs.
It’s easier than discovering one doesn’t work after you’ve fitted it....I...
It’s sorted now. Seems the Insurer were concerned the car was being used on the road without MoT, I would have thought a quick check on the dvla site by them would have answered their concerns, it’s been sorned for many months !
