its been referred back to the Insurer by Greenlight and as I’ve agreed not to drive it on the road unless it’s MOTd they are happy to Insure .......how ridiculous
No, it’s has to be insured and MOTD to be taxed but not the other way round. I have 5 motorcycles and a similar number of cars all SORNd some not MoTd and I’ve never had a problem before
I got a call from Greenlight Insurance on Tuesday leaving me a message to say my current insurer won’t renew my policy because the car is not MOT’d. It’s for my Clio 182 Trophy which has been SORN’d for the last couple of years.
It seems strange, I would have thought they would welcome the...
I asked last month for the history on my RGV 250. I even embellished it a bit stating it was part of a collection of classic 2 stroke motorcycles I owned and wanted the information to add to the history of it etc. I had already been told on a couple of other forums that they had tightened up at...
Doesn’t work anymore I’m afraid. They have clamped down and no longer send out keeper history just because it’s nice to have. It doesn’t fit in their reasons for supplying previous keeper info anymore
They weren’t factory fitted alarms Chris they were thatcham approved units retrofitted. The old scorpion alarms used the same mounts for the ultrasonics. There will be someone on here or the other forum who may be able to help. Renparts in Doncaster may be able to help

In all fairness it looks a lovely car and pound for pound isn’t that daft if you want a nice car to buy and store, maybe put a couple of hundred miles a year on it. (I’m selling it to myself)
I’m just not sure about the ad
New MOT rules coming into force in May will make it a major fail if HIDs are fitted into headlamps. Also the engine management light will be part of the MOT, if it’s lit it will be a major fail...
Just shows you, the saying “you learn something new every day” still applies even at my age
After battling numerous times to get the wheel centre caps on my Cup wheels i actually took the time today to look on the back of the caps. Before my eyes I saw a little emblem of a tyre valve...
It’s your call, the interval for the aux is 36k Miles. Maybe make a judgement based on that. There is a school of thought that suggests if you are going to all of the work that involves changing the aux belt you may as well do the tensioner, the water pump, even cam belt, tensioner and dephaser !
Well I may be wrong but as I understood it in order to change the belt you need to be able to access the drive side of the engine and the pulleys. In order to do that you need to lift that side of the engine, trolley jack and board under sump and take weight then unbolt drivers side engine...
If you’re doing the job yourself and unless the car has done loads of miles I wouldn’t bother with the belt. It makes a fairly straightforward job (well sort of) far more difficult. Using the jubilee clip method saves you jacking the engine, and removing the engine mount.
Have you got a price...
This may have been covered before but though I would share
Having had the scary experience of seeing smoke rising out of the alternator (subject of another thread) I set to on replacing it. I thought I would post a few lines on what I think is the best way of removing the unit. It does involve...
I fitted the new one this aft. I also put a new battery on just to be on the safe side. All ok again, hopefully be ok for our annual Northumberland trip in 4 weeks
