Today I received a message to say the gearbox has been dispatched so I removed the 225 sump and temp fitted a 172 sump. Fitted up perfectly as expected and will align the bottom half of the JR5 gearbox. That along with the flywheel and clutch will help me spot through to the block for the upper...
whats the code of that box? think I had different calculations but then I did work it on a 6200 rpm limit, 15s and possibly a different code on the box. I'll have to dig it back out and check now.
not looked into diffs and stuff, way out of my budget currently.
it'd be good to have a comparisons of ph1 vs ph2 engines and their outputs. if I remember correctly my old ph1's used to have decent sized exhaust ports vs the later heads?
defo game for setting up an only fans, im sure some of the freaks in here would love it :D
I do have a youtube channel though, will bosh videos up on there as I progress, nowt interesting as I hate the sound of my own voice and I'm sure most people don't want hear me waffle on in some weird...
So here's the plan, Some SW PMT work in effect. Using mainly Renault parts and as few custom parts as possible I plan to drop an f4rt engine in the Twingo. The engine was had for a bargain and tbh, if I hadn't found it I wouldn't be doing this swap. Using the parts database I've been able to...
I've had loads of time off since March being CEV, so trying to be productive and keep the mind fresh. Unfortunately funding things whilst off is more difficult 😕

So if the dopes engine build/gearbox swap was Project Lockdown 1, that would make this silly idea the Project Lockdown 3??
Take one perfectly fine and useable twingo and make it unusable.
Buy an unseen but so say good condition and near complete F4R784 which is a Laguna GT205 engine and then...
lol haven't got very far in the near 3 years then lol. I was trying to think if I used the jc5 with the Renault slave in or the jr5 if I could still use the stock 172 flywheel and cover plate or if id need to switch to a flywheel and clutch that is used from factory with a hydro...
Anyway good...
seen that before, was done so long ago too!
Im being super cheap with this throw together if it goes ahead so ill make things fit if needed. Im sure it all can be done from the scrap Renault parts bin though :D. From what i thought the beanie sport conversion is a drop in and use the original...
that said i have just seen a 5 speed pk4 from a modus....? I'd assume the fitment to the block was the same but in a shorter housing. more investigation needed
I was browsing some of the other tl4 ratio box's, the 197/200 version wouldn't be on my list. The small petrol and diesel variants (excluding the top gear) don't look too bad actually. Cruising at 75 with circa 2500rpm wouldn't be too bad and 1 shift to 60 like the old jc5089 with some extra...
What Renault gearbox's would fit a F4RT engine even with some fettling? Will a TL4 gearbox bolt up to one? I have previously mated a JC5 box to a 197 lump using the sump and flywheel off a 172 for alignment and then drilling the block, the castings were there for the bolts just not drilled or...
Slowly working through some bits on the Twingo, a cruise squib has been ordered but I've heard nothing else on that since ordering 🤷🏻♂️ On the engine side my old ramair filter was battered and bruised, so I decided to slap on the tried and tested (on hondas and vw 1.8t) s2000 cone filter. f**k...
Bags are for shopping.....
In all fairness I like this, it takes me back as a few have said. Nice to see some custom out of the box work being done. Whats the score with a heater? Trust me, not having one is horrible.
Keep up the good work and keep posting updates 👍
