Yeah agreed, mental to think that the oldest ones are 16 year old cars now! 16 bloody years!
That's because you're young, and ill informed. One day you'll get it.
I don't think Dan's shoddy pictures help things... so I hope new pictures will change my mind!
On this note @dann2707 I may actually have the perfect set of wheels for you.
Basically, I have a split set of 108's sitting around, four wheels, all with all 20 bolts removed, and none snapped. These days, when you try to remove the titanium bolts from the alloy wheels, the two have somewhat...

They're a heavy old thing, and really improve the gear change mate.
So I went and a new car up from @Sir_Dave today, I seem to have a thing for buying the same colour cars one after another...
I may as well do the background as I haven't really posted much car related stuff since getting rid of the Silver Grey 650i.... So after having 4 silver cars, I went and...
The two of you are having a properly s**t race. Like, I know people say about tortoise and hare type s**t. But you two started, stalled, had to do a full rebuild in the middle of the track, and are now crawling towards the finish line.
Got no strings you can pull at old place of work?
Glad you found one Northerner.
Gear knob, you want a weighted ZHP. There’s a forum bmw dealer that sorts a bit of discount. Look up my old thread if you want many details/ideas.
Spec wise, you missed multi function steering wheel (good option).
Also that’s a weird ass exhaust tip?
Ah ok, so you're looking pre-facelift right?
So that's the M54 engine, chain driven, belts are technically an inspection 2 item, so should be done every 4 years-ish, however, don't let that put you off like it does in the Clio. You can change them yourself very easily, no timing involved...
Good man. With regards the z4, make sure you buy the "right" one. Spec is everything, as is engine.
Some cars look like a bargain, then you spend half your life and all your monies retrofitting bits to make it as good as you want it to be.
So, my insurance renewal is due on the 28th Feb. I'm currently with AA insurance. They write to me with a surprisingly reasonable quotation, however I'm about to change cars.
I phone up this morning and give them the details of the new vehicle and ask if they can do anything. To their credit...
Meets are what you make them. We used to have people that organise interesting ones, and people would attend en mass.
I've been to some great ones over the years, but when I look back, the good ones were never just stood in a car park somewhere.
If people got back to doing things like...
Where in the country are you? I’m sure someone can help out.
It’s genrrally on top of the gearbox, if you can take some pics of your engine bay from a few angles, then we can probably point it out for you.
I'll weigh in here...
So, I'd personally look at getting someone very reasonable in the local area (find yourself a small back street garage that have a decent enough rep), ask them to straighten the boot out. The whole locking issue will just be down the misalignment of the catch/lock...
Jesus that’s crazy!
You say about getting rid of the brembos... could just get someone to make up a new bracket, would only take a couple of hours in CAD and someone like @Knuckles to make them?
We should title this: ‘Davedreads gets a phone that can take pictures and learns where the ‘upload’ button is’
Was good to see you mate and the content looks superb!
Good thread this, but you’re hurting my feelings with the whole trying to keep it a super bargain thing.
You got a bargain, spend the money to get it right and it’ll be a great car! Like the locks for example.
I want to drive one of these and see what the fuss is about.
