Picked the car up, had a nice chat with the guys at the garage, they were going on about how nice it was to see one again and how clean it was underneath etc etc.
Plus the handbrake is working, which is also good.
Just got a call from the garage, handbrake cables are buggered. One has seized completely and the other one is not far behind. Could have been worse, at least that's all sorted.
Yeah they ran the estate for a year but it wasn't competitive, they claim it was a development year so they ran the estate for the publicity. The saloon worked much better...
The handbrake has gone all w**k, so it’s going in on Monday to get that sorted. Hopefully something simple, the adjusters are notorious on these. Need to get it cleaned too. In fact, I might go up to the hand job.... errr.... wash place now.
I love this car, really, really love it. The engine is so smooth and apart from being just a nice thing to smoke around in it‘s so practical!
I know, I know, Volvo estate in “practical” shocker o_O
I‘ve had to do a couple of Southampton to Bristol runs recently and it just eats the miles...
Yeah..... we're moving house fairly soon and my mileage will be back up to 20k+ a year. Sod that at mid 20's mpg ;)
As to the exhaust and the bush..... it's definitely a thought. I will probably do the polybush first - that's only about £20!
The MPG is pretty poor. I knew it would struggle to crack 30mpg even on a run. Currently averaging about 25, which is par for the course really given the way it's being used.
Doesn't really matter that much as it's not a daily, or at least it will stop being a daily when I get the MoT done on...
Mine.
All mine.
It's an absolute cracker. Few issues I need to sort - bit of a vibration under braking sometimes, a battery drain which I strongly suspect is down to the crappy old immobiliser and the windscreen has picked up a stonechip.
Such a pleasure to be back in an 850 again, sure...
Yep it's 2x10, which even running in RAID 1 is still overkill for me. Need a backup solution for two PCs and one server plus a streaming box - all in about 7 TB worth of data assuming I back up absolutely everything.
Thought I'd pop this here rather than in the general black friday deals thread as it's a bit niche.

£400 for a 20Tb NAS drive, a genuinely good deal according to the price tracking websites, assuming you are looking for a big NAS drive...
Used the pump to do an oil change on the Scenic. Personally I found it much easier than jacking the car up and messing around underneath, it also helped that the oil filter is accessible from the top on the K9K.
“Best” is really difficult as it depends on your priorities. Depends on the type of driving your daughter does too.
Personally I’d find it hard to look past the Michelin CrossClimate+. They’re expensive, but they’ll grip well whatever the conditions, even in snow.
OK, "need" is pushing it. I could just reset the service indicator and forget about it, but I've ordered the oil and filter now. For £45 including the pump, may as well!
Mind you, that is more than 5% of the cost of the car in the first place.
I'd never even thought of that, I don't currently have a flat area where I can jack the car up safely and I need to do an oil change on the van of misery.

It's part of what keeps tension on the aux belt, if that fails you lose the drive to the alternator, power steering pump, etc. If you're unlucky and it gets wrapped around something then it could damage other pulleys. Worst case if it comes off and interferes with the cambelt somehow then you...
It's also a pretty uncompromising car - if anyone thinks they're going to daily it like a regular 200 it really is quite different with all the extra bracing etc. It's actually a decent motorway cruiser, but from memory it needs you to be engaged with it everywhere else or it'll sniff out a...
I dropped the seller a message about the Storm last night, haven’t had a response yet but this morning the advert has been taken down.
Guess it’s sold. Gutted!
22 euro for a brand new set of harnesses. What could go wrong eh?
There was this test a year or two back too, was pretty well publicised at the time IIRC.

The guy who sold them got an 18 month jail...
I dunno, it depends what you are after really. The screen on the X is clearly superior, but the 11 looks better in almost every other way - especially in terms of battery life.
You'd exchange the zoom on the camera for a wide angle lens which personally I wouldn't like, but I'd probably go for...
Camera wise they tend to be about half a generation to a generation behind the curve.
On the other hand, pocessor wise the iPhone has had a clear lead for a long time now, ever since at least iPhone 8 benchmarks show that even the very best android chipsets are well behind. Even now, the just...
Your own insurer won’t be interested in taking your side, they will just want to get the claim processed. You don’t really have any control over the quality of repair because your contract with them has all sorts of terms around using their approved repair facilities, etc
The key question is...
