Took me a couple of days, but I've just read this from start to finish, and I've got to say - bloody good effort!
What's up with the black paint you're using though? It seems to look more charcoal and far too matte?
Fred has the right idea :) Although it is not just a road car, it is mostly and thus £100+ pads are wasted. Car is only really used as a toy so blasts on the road, autotesting and the odd trackday and hillclimb/sprint thrown in. I need a pad that doesn't take too long to heat up with the...
Discs are quite worn, so I'm looking at replacing everything.
I've been hunting some braided hoses on the cheap, and have plenty of 5.1, but not entirely sure what to do about discs and pads.
I do not want to spent a huge amount of money on the best Brembo discs and expensive pads etc. but...
I was just reading the thread about 1*2 vs 197, and noticed some people have had a fair few Renaults.
I doubt I can remember all of the cars I've had, but it ranges from a Calibra, Rover 220 Coupé, Genuine ACS 325 all the way down to a banged out old £35 R5.
The last four years has consisted...
Doesn't matter if the car was parked horizontally across the road, it is your friends fault - he should be leaving a big enough gap in front of him to stop.
Those people who are saying it's a lot of money need to remember this isn't the UK and cars are generally just more expensive over there.
You cannot compare it to spending £22k on a car here, as that simply isn't correct.
You're adding the wrong people then. My other half who is 3 years younger than me, and who has 3 years less driving experience brings my premiums down by around £100.
Depends on the value of the car. A young person insuring a car worth less than £3k is probably going to end up paying more in premium hikes and loss of NCD by claiming fully comp than they would to simply repair/replace the car themselves.
My 182 is insured with a £1000 excess for this very...
Binstead. I've noticed a few Blue/Silver 1*2s about, can't say I've ever noticed yours though.
What on earth is a yozza? :)
Also, I'm happy with the standard exhaust if I'm honest. If I found something cheap, second hand then I might give it a go in the future, but for now I have other...
I've already posted up one New Member thread, but I feel actually buying a Clio now warrants a proper one.
I'm from the Isle of Wight and I've just bought a 182 FF.
I'll let the pics do the talking, taken after a good old clean and polish, topped off with a coat of Z2P:
Well the broken 172 was a bit of a non-starter, due to a deluded owner.
I went to have a look at it, and externally it needs some work - front bumper paint is pealing, rear is scuffed, wing mirror taped on, every wheel curbed, new but budget tyres etc.
Now, I'd normally walk away at this...
A fellow Islander?
Good news on the belt front, spoken to my friend this morning and he has the pulley locking tool, and is well aware of the procedure of slacking the cam pulleys - he sought the advice of Renault the first time he did one.
Binstead, although I do not know if I will be doing the car at Home, our Unit (Wootton) or my mate's garage (Newport Industrial Estate) yet.
If you were down in time, I'd definitely be interested in getting a quote if you're interested in the job - a full workshop (well, minus this pulley tool...
Right, so after a bit of Googling, it looks like I need the locking kit (MOT1801 - 7711381801), and then an additional kit that supplies a new cog and spacers (0000150901) for the kit? Looks like ~£60+vat for both from Renault.
Can I just clarify though, this pulley locking tool is only...
Could you elaborate? Whilst I do not doubt your advice (you're the expert, not me!), I'd like to get an understanding myself so I'm not going in to it blind (plus, I need to explain this to my friend who will likely be dead set that he's been doing it the correct way).
How much is the pulley...
Also, I've noticed in this thread, it mentions a cam pulley locking tool should be used, now the person I am acquiring the tools from (who has done a few, to be fair to him) claims he just has the locking tool for the opposite ends of the cams and some kind of pin for the crank pulley? (Excuse...
I think I will find out if this item is included with the engine I'm looking at. If it is, it should be covered under their supplied warranty.
I wouldn't mind normally, but with £275 for the belts I do not want to be replacing things that do not need replacing for a car that will not be kept...
As per title, I'm going to look at a Ph2 172 with a failed cambelt tomorrow, from a quick discussion with the vendor it looks like the auxbelt snapped and wrapped its self around the cambelt. He claims the cambelt did not snap and that the cambelt simply slipped.
Either way, I'm budgeting for...
