Mounting the wheel anyway has taken the paint off the areas that arent seen - but at least the paint has stayed on the areas i wanted! (that looked rough)
all ok folks! checked last night! all this talk about wheel bearing etc being put under strain and causing your wheel not to sit true...

what about a bit of wood and use my trolley jack / axle stands that spreads over the gap of this part! :) ?????
^^ thats not really sensible if you dont know whats what! (i mostly do) - thanks Rich i read Eddes guide he just said jack on the sill?! which i would have never thought of doing?! :S
i may be thick but i have never been able to understand how to use one! maybe my dad had a complicated one! LOL anyone know what they should be torqued up to?! :S
is it a worry to tighten them up to much?! (bearing in mind im not that strong LOL)
just out of interest! i havent (touch wood) but was just wondering last night when i took the wheels off?! im guessing there good quality bolts / nuts?!

for all the comments made regards all the down sides of painting the hub and edge of the disk! (could ruin the bearing/make the wheel sit not true la la la a la la i havent found any problems! and ive driven about 100 miles since doing it and all looks as good as the day i painted it:approve:

Dave picture of damage may help but regardless - nip to halfords get some rover stone grey! rub the area down and you can flash the area in! :) all will be good as new! ive repaired a few wheels in my time as most of my 182 have had some little mark out of them! i dont want to blow my own...
