you said pingtest.com ;)
and that still doesnt work in the way your thinking unfortunately you dont know where everyone your playing against lives and what type of connection they have or even if they are hard wires or wireless there are many things that affect your latency
see i just pinged a few sites (this is my work connection my the way a 4mb on a les10 sdsh line so synchronous)
1 google.co.uk ONLINE 33.35 ms
2 google.com ONLINE 17.66 ms
3 amazon.co.uk ONLINE 139.3 ms
4 amazon.com ONLINE 55.19 ms
pingtest.com isnt a relevant test really as your not testing the latency to the other players but to a datacenter somewhere with a fast connection your opponents arnt sat in a data center with a 100MB synchronous connection they are sat in a house with quite possbly a flaky 2mb adsl connection...
i tell you what just after my call to samsung to fix my monitor i wont be wanting to use them any time soon for a tv they said 2 working days to call me back to then arrange something ! the monitor is 367 days old
the match making when it says about ping isnt saying what your ping is its trying to find the best quality match possible
in busy periods you are more likely to get better lower ping games as there are more games to chose from at odd times you may get stuck into games that are 150ms + that...
just as a point of interest when hosting in modern warefare 2 you can send and receive about 300MB a hour compared to modernwarefare where in a hour you used to send and receive about 20MB apparently
when you press the select button in game and it comes up with the green yellow or red bars...
erm the 360 and ps3 dont have dedicated servers at all for modern warefare 2 one player is host and its their response to handling requests that dictates the response speed and subsequent lag.
the issue we have is that almost all of us run adsl so have much slower upstream transmission speeds...
hmm thats not actually true people seem to think that for some reason but in reality its far from the truth
their aim is to be teh largest manufacturer in 2012 they are second to samsung at the moment
saying that ps3 owners seem to have s**t internet connections lol ;)
i only have a bad game really if i host well its good for me bad for everyone else with them skipping around all over the place
well unless your both connected to the same game it will be different !!! for each person
the match quality is just all down to the quality of the hosts connection really and then the quality of yours ! its nothing global that affects everyone
