The handbook for the 1995 Clio recommends the use of 95 or 98ron fuel - but that certainly doesnt say anything about Optimax! As I understand it, the 16v ECU will change the settings to accomodate either 95 or 98ron and so no difference will be noticeable.
I use a good quality fuel whenever...
In Bristol - flat red on an N-reg. Heard a turbo whistling in the distance and a dump valve behind me and expected a Cosworth or something. But it was the BB Tuning converted Valver thats rocking around Bristol at the moment!! Wow!! It was the one I saw at Renatec (local Renault specialist)...
16v leather are the same seats as the 19 16v - theyre different from the "normal" 16v ones and are a very worthwhile investment for any length of journey. I dont think anyone says theyre a waste of money when theyve sat in them!
Standard 0-62 according to Renault was indeed 8 secs for the later Phase2 GT Turbo and Raider (which had 5bhp more than the 115bhp Phase1).
The 0-62 for the 16v was officially 8 secs according to Renault, though the 0-60 drops by about half a second if youre hot becuase you have to change to...
The leather is well worth it, as I know - but it will add about £500 to the price. Phase2 is the spec to go for if you can: its build as much as looks. Ive got an early Phase2 (on a very late L-reg) and the doors shut with much more of a good thud than my flatmates Phase1; meanwhile...
They will all make your 172 look like a done-up 1.2:( And what will happen when you come to sell it? Ever seen a GT Turbo with a 1989 bodykit? It will ming!
I respect the old one, but the new bog standard £21k WRX is not convincingly faster than a hot hatch, especially since its 4WD gives greater transmission loss - though it does offer the benefits of said 4WD.
Im with Mat on this one mate. Theres no way that youd buy an IK for a 16v/Willy (172/Cup as well??) for power gains if you had the chance to try before you buy - not even a Hill Power one. I run one because its too difficult to re-locate my second fuel regulator and I love the noise!
Aaron - I think the CTR is a car that appeals to Valver drivers: its the high-rev thing.
My flatmate has a new CTR and a 16v that hes had for about 6 years. He says that the CTR is faster, but by not as much as youd think and that the handling is way better on his 16v. Guess thats why he...
I slow down too, to increase the space in front of me. If I have to brake suddenly, then theyre guaranteed to go into the back of me. I dont want to write off my car, even if I get a new one paid for - too much hassle.
Lexus IS200 and BMW 316/8 divers are the worst offenders.
Mine is a tuned F7P 1764cc 16v lump, worked on to an unknown spec by the last owner with head work, re-profiled cams, vernier pulleys, chip etc. It made 171.3bhp on an engine dynometer before it was put in the car two years ago, but made 128bhp at the wheels at a recent RR day. Although there...
The odometer reads a healthy 97,983 miles, which is no trouble on a modern car. It was pretty clean when I bought the car on 78,000 miles as the engine had just been re-built with head work, cams and so on. But I cleaned it just for good measure;). I only use the car in the dry and wipe off...
I dont like to nit pick, but Ive seen this link loads and its a bit fishy. I think someone has got the bhp and weights for the cars and then calculated them in some sort of formula.
Some cars are listed as faster than I remember and others a lot slower.
The Williams gets a 1/4 mile of...
It will be difficult to blwnd in the paint, so most jobs do a blow-over of the door/boot. I had my old car done, but not with this one and its just as well - my remote alarm packed in the other day!
Clean 16v: was it 145bhp at the wheels?? Ive never heard of a 16v make that much at the wheels.
Mine, with head, cams, chip etc made 128bhp at the wheels (with a blowing exhaust and dodgy ignition!;)) - which is what a number of others with similar mods seem to make. That is, of course...
