I got a quote at £800 when I was 19 and no NCB.
With the following declared:
Sport body panels all round,
Lowered,
30mm spacers,
Optional alloys,
S/S exhaust,
Sport Interior.

I've just decided to rep mine as I'm keeping it for a couple of years for NCB.

You are aon about type A and B spacers.
Type B is as you described, type A uses longer bolts.

The point in rep's is usually due to people owning the car for a couple of years to buld up NC, so make it look decent.
Don't know if I'd end up buying a sport though, theres much faster things out there.
