Custom Decat

  Evo 8 MR
Got the car booked in for it's MOT tomorrow morning 9am so providing she flies through I'll be lookin at gettin a custom decat either the coming week or the one after so just wondering if those in the know could recommend any particular centre that will make one for me in the north west area?

I know of Prospeed in Cardiff but I'd prefer not to have to travel that far if it can be avoided.

I also have a K-Tec cat back exhaust so would that affect the price at all and any rough ideas of what I am likely to have to pay?

I had a custom de-cat made up for mine, also have a k-tec system fitted but I decided to make the journey down to pro-speed. I think I paid £75 for it.

www.zorstec.com in Shipley, West Yorks.

Top bloke.

That's a possibility, may consider it if I can't get anything closer, thanks.

Do a search mate, this has been asked this week already.

That thread has no relevance whatsoever, jog on.

Almost forgot to mention she passed the MOT with flying colours so this is a definite now. :)

Also for anyone with a 3/4 plate I have one of these and before the test I was a little worried about it so I told the tester about it and he said it should be fully legal to pass but he won't fail it for that so he let me keep it on! Honesty goes a long way it seems.

Is there anyone on here who's actually done this on a K4J as I'm being told it actually reduces power due to a lack of back pressure so could do with someone who knows for sure?

Also the cat isn't built in with the manifold is it?

  Astra 1.9Cdti SRi
not sure if the 1.2 and 1.4 are different or what,

but the 1.2 came in 3 sections,

mani/cat was one piece (doesnt have a big mani) just a pipe tbh
then centre section
then back box

to get a de-cat onit i had to get a custom one made, which involved a new mani/cat section and flexi hose installed in, took him about hour or so to do,

Different family of engines entirely but thanks for the effort, I hope the weather is dry tomorrow as I'll have to stick my head right under to be sure I think.

Awesome, no negative effects I hope?

I had a look underneath and it basically looks the same as in the image on that link so it should be ight.

Still not sure where to go though. :S

Got it booked in with Westgate Tyres in Morecambe on Friday. (Powerflow dealers) :D

The guy said it would be £70 if it has one lambda sensor and £90 if it has two. Anyone confirm that as I'm not sure how many it has?

Looking forward to it.

It does indeed have two lambda sensors but they still charged me £70 as that was written in the diary, awesome!

Anyway got it de-catted this mornin and it's incredibly loud now, nice and deep tone at low revs and insanely raspy when you open it up, it also pops under harsh throttle control, this is how it should sound with the cat on! Also the car seems to run okay, was half expecting it to run like crap, theres no lights on the dash either. :D

Well worth the money imo and the guys at Westgate Tyres did a great job.

Nearly forgot to mention the fitter recommended I get it mapped, not for the power gains but for the smooth running as the standard map is designed to be run with a cat, what we think, yay or nay?
