Not a bad effort mate. You have the basics right. You don't need a wider lens. Choose something a bit more interesting as fore ground interest. Something you can get a low perspective on to get as much as the sky in as you can.

Ok test two of the Milky Way. This time it was far too cold and with patchy cloud I decided to use the BMW :)
Could be on a different planet for all we know haha.

Yea as they were experimental and taken after an evening of star trails I was too cold to hang around and try over and over with the milky way shot. It was 1 image of 2 minutes exposure, ISO 3200 at f4.5.
