Re: Problems with your 197???? I had two new Recaros fitted in my R27. They weren't that worn, the subframes were rusting though. Hemming in Chichester got me new seats and subframes - so I wasn't complaining.

I wouldn't discount a car that was built before October 2007, because of the gearbox. The only ratios that were changed were 5th and 6th and they rev a couple of hundred RPMs lower - hardly earth shattering. I own a September '07 build R27 and have driven a later 197 and the difference is...

Car looks good. Have you thought about getting coilovers instead of just springs? Or would that affect your insurance premium way too much?

Drive the R27 - you'll change your mind and I drove a 182 for two and a half years.

Why don't you get a Cup from a dealer that has them in stock? I've seen few advertised on the renaultsport forum in the last few weeks.

The 182 has the torque the available at lower revs. Which is handy. There's no real difference in acceleration.

Re: cup weight saveing I seem to recall early press shots of a 197 Cup with no fog lights and then another with them fitted (both images released at the same time). Maybe they realised it would cost them more to fit the car without front fogs than with them?

Clips?? The one I had fitted on my previous 182 clipped straight into the holes in the bootlid. And I still have the badge lying in a drawer in my kitchen....

Trust me the rear speakers in a R27 are crap. I pulled them out and swapped them for the Infinity ones I had in my previous 182. You do have the cabling though, just no speakers.

Keep the 182 if your worried about motorways. But if you want a more modern car, then buy a 197.

I had one of these - bought from Denty When he was selling them at an even cheaper price. I cannot understand how Renault have the balls to sell these units for £175 (think they were even more expensive originally?) I didn't like the fact that you couldn't select albums, only the odd playlists...
