I would say it's more to do with the gear ratios. If you drive a 197 like a pansy (ie changing gear when you hit 3k rpm) then it ain't much different than a 182.
The engine note of the 197 is so addictive to listen to when it's running over 5k rpm, so you just tend not to shift up a gear.
I'm really thinking about getting a Fiat Cinquecento, as a runaround.
A friend of mine lent me hers for a few weeks a couple of years back. I'd sold my Mini and was waiting for the 182 to turn up and it sure beat shanks' pony, so I bit her hand off and borrowed it.
At the time I put £17...
I think the KTEC one might suit you Mikey. I would've recommended Milltek as the one I had on my old 182 was a lovely system, really well made. But from what I've heard their 197 system isn't too hot - doesn't fit very well and tends to melt the diffuser. Which is surprising considering their...
According to somebody on the Renaultsport forum it was around 900 quid! But they got it second hand from KTec for £600.
Have to admit I like the sound of the standard Renault system, but I'm sure I'll change it next year. Orbisoud is a little pricey for me though!

They're called Silverstone - there's loads for sale on the fleabay
To me those wheels look very similar to what are fitted to some Laguna 2s?
I bet you could get a cheap set from flea bay or something and get them refurbed in black??
Lovely motor, sounded lovely as well, when you were in the other lane to me on the Eastern Rd a month or so back.
Stainsbury's in Farlington, by any chance??
Well the dealer I bought my R27 from gave me a couple of hundred quid less than £8000 for my 182 Cup as a trade in. The R27 was stupidly cheap as well.
You know want one Mark! ;)
I have to say the more I drive my R27, the more impressed I am with it.
It's such a nice car, extremely well made, almost feels like a german built car, build quality is a almost light years ahead than my old 182 was. Handling is amazing, seriously it's amazing...
I like it. Dave was telling me a couple of weeks back about your car and how rapid it was when you were binning it up the Eastern Rd. Watch it now, the speed limits have changed on the Eastern Rd. from 70mph to 40mph from the Anchroage park turning to the Havant Rd. and 50mph from the...
