Are standard 1*2 injectors man enough for my engine?

Nobody told me 😬 I just made an assumption based of stuff I've read that it was the more cost effective thing to do rather than fit different cams 🫣 I had no idea that was the purpose of the Grp n timing tbh, looks like I'll need to spend some more money on this b*****d thing 🤣

Are standard 1*2 injectors man enough for my engine?

I know the 225 injectors are deffo overkill for this engine Looking at what @Coops Mk1 is running on his & I don't think mine will be anywhere near that sort of power so I'm not really sure what to use

Are standard 1*2 injectors man enough for my engine?

Doing a search on this subject gives answers that are clear as mud & raises more questions than answers 🙄 Engine spec: High comp pistons, port matched inlets, 182 manifold & Group N cam timing So when it's time for mapping, are the standard 172 injectors going to be man enough or would I be...

    Clio 1.8 16v RWD

That's about 100 miles away from me :ROFLMAO: Could still probably sort something out though, there's a big group of us Mk1 owners (1 of them is actually from Aylesbury) doing a trackday at Bedford on the 11th of next month so I could bring the glass down & meet you there

Rear Pads & Discs change FRT?

The problem is that the cheaper discs quite often have s**t bearings in them that don't last very long at all so you end up doing the job twice. Genuine discs come with SNR or SKF bearings in them so if you're trying to go down the cheaper route, try to find discs that use those brands of bearings

    Clio Williams Jacking Tools

Renault: We built the cars with strengthened areas specifically designed for jacking the car up with Experienced owners: STFU Jean-Claude you're full of merde, you made those bits out of material that surrenders faster than your grandad did in 1940 I also jack the car up the same way as others...

182 manifold on a Williams. Will it fit?

182 manifold on a Williams. Will it fit?

They don't fit, the flange to the cylinder head is completely different so it needs swapping over. There's a thread on here somewhere with pics of it done with a 172 manifold, the other issue is making sure it clears the starter motor but not foul the bulkhead. I reckon the solution to that is...

    Clio 1.8 16v RWD

They're probably very similar but the Valver subframe needs an extra hole drilling in it to accept the front gearbox mount As for the Megane turbo engine, they're completely different so that'll be some clever fabrication needed to get it to fit in there, from a mounting the engine perspective...

    Clio 1.8 16v RWD

I'm loving the roof mounted intercooler  There's a thread on here somewhere of someone's 172 with the engine in the back that might have useful info in it. In the pile of parts, see if you've got the R5 engine mount brackets, those will make it easy to mount the engine onto the subframe...

    Speedline group a wheels

Depends on how the car is setup suspension wise, on a standard ride height etc yeah they'll fit easily If it's lowered with extra camber or anything funky, tyre size will be a factor in whether they clear or not Got to say I'm quite surprised at the specs of the genuine Speedline ones, I'm used...

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

Yes I did.....................sort of, the Mk2 hubs are 26mm thick so yours are deffo Mk1 items. Unfortunately I completely forgot about the CV joint splines, I'd say they're most probably mk1 items as well but the hub flanges are interchangeable between the 2 so can't say with 100% certainty
  18. 16v_paddy

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

Yeah that's a Mk1 box from a Williams but if the gearset inside has been changed it doesn't really matter what you call it, on all the JC5's the 3 numbers after it are what determines the ratios etc inside it

I'll be with my car later today so will measure up & let you know. I also found this in case you go down the Group A route

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

Annoyingly the pipes are blocking the exact bits I need to look at to id the box 🤣 I'm trying to look at the bolt holes on the top of the box where the mount normally goes. If it's a speedo drive box you'll be able to see a hole for a speedo sensor or cable to plug into on the top of the box...

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

For all intent & purposes there's nothing special or different about the Williams, it's just bits bolted to the shell that make them different Same applies to the lower spec shells, it's basically just this panel circled on each side that makes the 16v & Williams different
  23. 16v_paddy

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

The vin will tell you exactly what it is, there's the vin plate above the drivers headlight & the vin is also stamped on the drivers side suspension turret. Will start with VF1C57M if it's a Williams or VF1C57D if it's a 1.8 16v shell both are pretty much identical though
  24. 16v_paddy

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

If you measure the diameter of the hole in the hub for the driveshaft spline as well as the thickness of the stub axle where it attaches to the shock absorber you'll know if it's a mk1 or mk2 hub as they're different sizes (I can't remember them off the top of my head) which will also help tell...

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

I vaguely know some bits & bobs about the car, I bought my track car shell from Rod and traded loads of other parts with him over the years so always spoke about the car & events he did in it

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

You had me confused as hell with the surname, I know Rod & was thinking wow there's 2 blokes called Rod with yellow Mk1 rally cars🤣

Laguna hubs on the Clio Williams

Quit while you're ahead as this route is painfully expensive :ROFLMAO: Bordanovasport are another decent source for parts to go down the Maxi route and Pure Motorsport sell a few bits that although aren't Maxi, they'll help with widening bits & bobs, especially some Mk2 items As for the...
