worth checking the gearbox oil level to make sure its got some left, they tend to leak

get a jubilee clip and drill a hole in it, then insert a bolt through it, probably far cheaper

earth cable goes to gearbox just above the diff on passenger side 13mm iirc blue cable looks like a lambada sensor plug white one - maybe a speedo sensor plug

Most get the wheels sprayed black, same with the badges , its not that hard to do

May be worth having a look at giving it a compression test, see what you get and make sure all is well internally as your taking it apart anyway

No major gains to be had really, and it's far more work than you think to fit one, only worth doing if the engine is out / head is off IMO

maybe the gearbox selector/pivot rod has jumped out is the gear stick all floppy ? if so its more than likely this the circlip can fail and jump out = no gears

have you checked the oil level?
