M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

I imagine they are copies? They are sold by Rimstyle (not Rimstock)....... £286 for a set of 4 (7 x 15). Hope the link works .... http://www.rimstyle.com/alloywheels/detail/?car_model_id=1033&year=2005&s=wC69JuWA

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Yes, they are lighter than the 2118s. I have no actual figures but the bare wheels are certainly lighter. The new wheels have a 'RAVS Gram Lights' logo on them. Re the MSA Lists: it looks like Extreme VR1s and VR2s will both be List 1B.... that's the word from the UK supplier but nothing...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Quick update: The two pictures below show my second set of wheels on the Clio. The background is that I scared myself driving back from Castle Combe in a monsoon when I hit a big patch of standing water and the 'semi slick' VR2s let go in a big way. After that I drove home very, very slowly...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi M Low 51 secs is a good time in mixed conditions. As you know I have mixed feeling about triple 8 ' s..... I think they are ok for track days but they don't seem to work well for sprints and hillclimbs. Hope the two minis are not too badly dented.

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Just found this on YouTube from last Saturday at Wiscombe Park ..... @Rob Thomson you are 2:20 into the video - I'm 4:20 in. Its good to see the wide range of cars and some of the single seaters leaving the line

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi David Yes, it can be confusing. For 'Road Going Series Production' Category the following applies: Section 'S', pages 344 and 345 of the 2017 Blue Book: clause 10.8.1 – Reverse gear must be working; clause 11.8.1 (a) - The gearbox and diff casing must be externally identifiable as the...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Sorry Rob .... I was well off the pace on Saturday and it pained me to look too closely at the results. I thought you beat me. I had gone for a harder R7 compound VR2 tyre on saturday which were brilliant at the Castle Combe track day but slower at Wiscombe (a second slower than the soft R5...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

It depends what category / class you want to enter: remember that the MSA define the broad categories and then clubs use these categories to define classes for their events: Standard category - cams LSD etc not allowed. Road Going Series Production Category - yes, allowed (and exhaust...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Thanks David..... There is a simple 'guide' to preparing road cars for speed events ... i.e. what's allowed and what's not. It was prepared by one of the local motor clubs for beginners. I will try and dig it out for you and send it to you. Some clubs also operate a 'buddy' system for your...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi Rob, I believe congratulations are in order? Did you win the 2017 Bristol MC Speed championship at the weekend? Well deserved ..... you really get the best out of that little Clio !!! Looking at your video you are much faster and braver than me at parts of Wiscombe e.g. Bunnies Leap...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Thanks ... yes, it is great fun and very sociable. The videos don't really give an impression of how steep the hill is at Wiscombe.... its 1 in 6 in places.

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Wiscombe Park Hillclimb – Sat 2nd Sept 2017 The '5 Clubs' hillclimb weekend is often one of the best events in the southwest – late summer sunshine and lazy days drinking tea and chatting about cars. The beer tent is run by Otter Breweries. But for me it was a mixed day – gear selection...

    Congratulations to Heather Calder

Video of Heather pinched from Knockhill Facebook page. Hope this link works .... for some reason you have to 'unmute' the video to get the sound of the 680 BHP, 3.5 litre V8.
  15. GrahamV182

    Congratulations to Heather Calder

Sorry I don't have a lap time ..... There is a video of her on the Knockhill facebook page where they say her speed was 'over 170 mph'. Incredible to hear her going through the gears so quickly ....

    Congratulations to Heather Calder

Congratulations to Heather Calder ..... crowned last weekend as the 2017 MSA UK Sprint Champion. Driving a 3.5 litre V8 Gould GR55 she hit 170 mph at Knockhill last weekend and she is the first female Sprint champion for 47 years.

The still not sure what to build build thread

Excellent news !!! Looks really smart. Let me know how you get on with the gearbox / shifter .... If things go to plan then I think that will be my winter upgrade. I'm dog sitting a friend's puppy this weekend..... and its a Bank holiday so I can't come out to play in Cornwall. Are South...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi Rob .... interesting video :-) The only thing I can add is that both of those videos are from a standing start..... I think on a flying lap you'll probably be 15 to 20 mph quicker as you approach Avon Rise. But I'm not sure that how much difference that would make ...... See you at sunny...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

You make a very valid point .... I hadn't thought about it but there probably is a difference between the best lines for a FWD and a RWD: the instructor who recommended 'straight lining Avon Rise' and entering Quarry 'close to the right' was teaching a pupil in a really fast RWD Caterham. In...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi M .... yes, I hope I can get an entry for the Pegasus sprint in October. Re Terry's work .... The quality of the hand made alloy panels on the Railton is superb. Photos don't do it justice - he is obviously a fantastic engineer who loves his work. I am now a big fan.

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Castle Combe Track Day - 19th Aug A track day is a bit or a rarity for me – I'm more of a short, sharp competition bloke but I wanted to learn more about the lines and braking points at Castle Combe. After the Dick Mayo Sprint a few weeks ago I decided I really needed more track time on this...

    New List 1B tyre - Extreme VR2

I have been using the Extreme VR2 tyres now for about 6 months - I found them to be very grippy and at a good price. I've just ordered another set direct from the factory and I have been asked in future to go through the new UK supplier. For anyone else looking for a good, road-legal, List...

Another question on offset ...... sorry

Thanks guys .... I've ordered them. They are not the colour or style I wanted ...... but they are damned cheap so good enough for 'wets'.
  25. GrahamV182

Another question on offset ...... sorry

Can someone confirm that 15 x 7 et35 will fit a 2005 Clio 182? I'm looking at a cheap set of Team Dynamics for wet weather tyres. The fitment website says et35 to et38 should be ok but my current wheels are speedline with an et43? I am running quite a lot of negative camber on the front...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Castle Hillclimb (Lostwithiel, Cornwall) 5th and 6th Aug 2017 I don't think this hill is that well suited to a little Clio - Castle Hillclimb is more of an out-an-out power climb with only 2 bends where handling really matters. Having said that its still one of my favourite venues and the...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi Rob .... I've just watched it and it is really interesting - it's not very often you can compare your driving with someone else's. I think there are a few places where we take different lines. I've certainly got a lot to learn about Castle Combe - almost every corner I think I could...

M100CUP - RB 182 Sprint and Hillclimb Car

Hi - good questions: Let me explain the tyres ..... 1) The track has to be set up consistently from year to year, so that where championship points are allocated compared to previous class records then you are comparing apples with apples. This means the tyres for this competition have to be...
