No - its a Porsche one - comes as a standard pack on the Porsche Cayman PDK.
The grass is from where he threw it over the hedge .... leaving a trail of smoke :-)
A good friend sent me this photo last night of his mini jump starter battery - the learning point is that if you buy a small 'Jump Start' battery pack then make sure it has polarity protection. The battery exploded and was then fizzing and smoking for about half an hour .... nobody hurt :-)
Good point .... The camera is on a cheap mount attached to the roll cage. It's rubber mounted but still loads on transmitted noise.
I think I'm due a new camera ..... The one I've got is a cheap [£30] banggood.com camera that's about 5 years old now. The sound has always been rubbish and i...
26 psi front and 24 psi rear ..... toyo R888Rs. I have to say I've experimented with all sorts of pressures between 22 psi and 30 psi but with stiff sidewalls I can't really tell the difference. That pressure is only for a short blast (sprint /hillclimb) with cold tyres and cold brakes ...
Some better photos from last Sunday's competition at Clay Pigeon ....
1) Two wheels off the circuit is allowed .... but 4 wheels off is a 'fail'. This rumble strip is just before a sharp left so I'm trying to reduce the severity of the curve by deliberately putting two wheels off ...
2) I...
Thanks ...yes it was good to chat. I have to say your young son is great fun..... make the most of these early years as they soon grow up into teenagers :-)
There were a number of really nice Minis at Clay - sadly I grew up with the original Cooper 'S' Minis and I have a real itch for one...
First event of 2017 successfully completed ... no mishaps ... car ran well throughout the day.
If there was a prize for consistency then I would have won it -
Practice 1 - 87.66 seconds
Practice 2 - 87.97 seconds
Timed 1 - 85.95 seconds
Timed 2 - 85.86 seconds
Timed 3 - 85.88 seconds
Video of...
Yes, Clay Pigeon on Sunday April 2nd - kick off at 9.00 am. I'm car number 7..... lucky for some.
I got the 'finals' through last night and sadly there doesn't seem to be may entries for this event - I think a total of about 40 cars on the entry list. There are a few other (more prestigious)...
First competition of 2017 coming up on Sunday so as the sun was shining I spent some time checking over the car: nothing serious just checking all the fluid levels, tyre pressures etc. I've also got a full tank of fuel which I need to use ...
Looking at the tyres pressures, I decided to swap...
Another trick for passing a static noise test: you will be asked for the maximum rpm of you car and the tester will then calculates the rpm value you will be tested at (usually three quarters of your maximum rpm). If you think you are borderline then understate your max rpm so you are tested...
No - I haven't tried them yet but I want to give them a go. @SonicBoom (Rich) was trying to arrange a bulk buy of Supersoft compound which are only made to order - minimum of 20 tyres. I'm not sure what's happened as it seems to have gone quiet on the bulk buy front. My understanding is that...
Thanks for the good feedback ..... a bit of tinkering this afternoon as the sun was shining. Let me try to answer some of the questions from above:
If I was to score the Toyo R888R I would give them a 7 or an 8 out of 10.
I like that they have a pretty solid sidewall which helps reduce roll...
Yes, I'd second all that. It was George K that gave me the spreadsheet with all the different gear ratios, speed, wheel tyre sizes for Clio 182s....
Re the comments on the 'slam panel' having a wedge cut out to miss the throttle bodies - Looking at the 2017 Blue Book I don't think its a...
Chapter 3 – was it worth it?
@Davyy asked about the power output – this is the video taken by K-Tec of the power run ( I always get nervous when I see this – just in case it goes 'pop')
Link to Face book video below -
And below is the actual Power Chart printout. I was a little bit...
Hi Nathan, the 17 inch wheels and tyres were part exchanged against the Speedline and Toyos. So I didn't have to pay the full price for upgrades..... K-Tec quoted me upgrade prices rather than purchase prices.
I think 17 inch may be good for your rally car but not so good for hillclimbs.

Chapter 2 Continued - I pick up the car:
What does it look like? - Incredible!
What does it drive like? - Incredible!
In Chapter 3 I will explain more about driving M100CUP and my first competitions in the Clio. Just to finish Chapter 2 off are the following photos of what the car looks like...
Chapter 2 – I put my trust in K-Tec Racing.
Having moved on from the Caterham in Chapter 1, I wanted a car that was more 'sensible' than the adrenaline fuelled Caterham – one that I could drive to and from events without using a trailer. So a move from 'Specialist Production class' to 'Series...
Hi Nathan - hope you are well? How the Rally build going?
Just looked at one set of results for Castle - http://www.swtimekeeping.co.uk/Documents/SwtResultsFor150802.pdf
On that day I think 28.16 was my fastest time up Castle in my non-turbo, non 4 wheel drive Caterham - I think you did a...
Chapter 1 – How on earth did I get to own a Clio?
2016 will be etched in my memory for 3 main reasons -
Brexit referendum;
Trump being elected as the leader of the free world;
After 50 years of motoring I bought my first French car – a Racing Blue (RB) 182 for Hillclimbing and Sprinting...
Re: 'When was it like that?'
It was like that from 2009 to about 2011 ... I think. Its an interesting story how I acquired M100CUP.....
My background is that I've sprinted and hillclimbed cars for about 12 years now - I had a lot of success in a very fast Caterham Superlight 'R' but wanted...
My 182 came out of the garage yesterday for its spring clean and check over ..... my first competition of 2017 is on the 2nd April (Clay Pigeon Kart circuit - two laps against the clock - brilliant fun in a Clio).

It's called 'Boora' wax if I remember correctly. I wasn't sure which one to try so I went for one that did well in an Autoexpress review. They said it was quite easy to apply and buff..... sounded ok to me :-)
I used a Carnauba wax today for the first time today...... quite impressed with the coverage and the results.
My dumb question is can this wax be used on some of the trim as well ? i e I used it for the carbon fibre trim on the mirrors as well and it seems to work fine... but before i go mad...
Another piece of advice: check your 'tie downs' are still tight after the first 20 miles or so.....
As already said .... Take your time and you will be fine.
Yes ... those are the four main contenders for me as well. Can you still get R888 in SG compound? I thought GG was now the softest?
I used R888Rs last year ..... I was quite happy with them as I was still getting used to the car and front wheel drive. I managed to destroy two R888Rs on the...
Good question .... let me try to explain:
The Motorsports Authority (MSA) authorise what tyres can and can't be used in UK motorsport. They produce a number of 'lists' each year and the content changes based on what is nominated by the tyre manufacturers. The list most peole are interested in...
