Go for 2 60gb SSD's instead of 1 larger drive and run them in raid 0. I run two 60gb Corsair Force drives and in raid the performance is very close to be doubled. It is very quick, makes me wonder how I used to manage on a spinning drive now.

If you want to play games on it. Install windows 7 with bootcamp. Best of both worlds then. How mine is set up. Windows for games, OSX for work. Steam does work on OSX now though so few games available through that.

If you can get the student price for the sake of a few quid I would rather buy it direct. If you go into your local store might find that the discount to students is even larger. In store is usually cheaper. It is only around £40 as a student anyway.
