Thought I'd add an update to say that I've setup my two Hikvision cameras (powered by POE) and I'm pretty happy with them, I've got to run the cabling properly in the garage and wall mount the switch but that'll have to wait for the time being:
They did another recent update and ours has been faultless since then, the only issue I have now is only getting circa 50MB on the 80MB deal. I work from home and use the connection quite intensively so need all I can get (I used to be on 220MB before we moved).
I'd stick with the 7 tbh, I've got a 6 Plus and it isn't that practical when out and about (jeans pockets etc). I got the Plus thinking I'm at home the majority of the time, but in reality in that scenario I just use my iPad.
@DannyR do you have any recommendations for home CCTV cameras? I'm after proper HD cameras, 1 internal and 1 external wired IP recorded by my own server so don't care about SD cards and cloud services etc. Budget not an issue, I just want something that can be wired, good quality and will last...
I had a hell of a lot of problems with ours in the weeks after we moved in, in my experience you can't use the system in any other way than wireless without it getting upset, even using an alternative wireless router it s***s the bed. It has be wireless and it has to be using the Sky wireless...
Not that I tried, but the computer wouldn't actually fit under the desk as it is marginally too tall and would catch the metal work under the desk. But I prefer it where it is and you wouldn't see any of it under the desk (through the side window) and the desks are plenty big enough to take it...
Its a Noble from OCUK, this one: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/noblechairs-epic-series-black-red-gc-003-nc.html, i was one of the first buyers and i think the early ones had some issues but for the most part they are very good.
I'm in the middle of setting up my home office 2.0. Got my desks and fitted cable trays to them, got 1 PDU fitted and another on order, just ordered a Philips hue lighting strip for the desks and waiting on the fitting of the bay window blinds then I can start doing the server / network install.
What about speakers? I'm after a decent set of 2.1 speakers and don't like the look of the Corsair SP2500, the sub looks massive as well! Looking for something a bit more discreet.
Tbh I've enjoyed Forza Apex the most, closely followed by Deus Ex Mankind Divided. That said, I haven't been playing much this year due to the house move and various things.
Thanks for the heads-up, just bought it. However, word of warning it seems they are having server issues at the moment and you can't actually access any of the content!
Received my Asus Claymore 100% today but can't open it as the wife has decided its my Christmas present, not that it bothers me as it looks like my new office won't be setup until the new year now.
Pre-ordered one of the ASUS Claymore 100% keyboards, a lot of cash but should finish my system off nicely, never really got on with the keyboard I have at the moment.
I got the following last night for £65 p/m:
Boxsets Bundle
Q Multiscreen
2 Mini Boxes
Q 2TB Main Box
Sky Fibre Max (upto approx. 80MB)
Line rental with 35% discount for 12 months
Telephone 7pm-7am & weekends free for 1 hour
They discounted the upfront cost a fair bit as well. Fairly happy...
Good stuff, I had a phone line put in to the office in the new house, but thought I might have dropped the ball and should have asked for a satellite / STV point.
