Don't be a mong. Give it a few days/week, investigate a little further and come at it with a fresh head. If it means taking it off the road a little while longer then so be it, given the effort, time and money invested so far you'd be a special kind of r****d to throw in the towel at this point.
Gotcha, thanks. Being a VAG guy myself I'm fortunate enough that most things run the same bolt patterns (5x100mm for mk4-based, 5x112mm for mk5-based etc) so things are fairly simple to chop and change.
Nice easy upgrade if you find you need a bigger setup down the line then. How much difference in cost is there to step up to the Meg rotors? Would be nice to just get it done while you were at it, but if there's a considerable expense then it's understandable!
In a 1*2? I shall do some hunting around in that case, thanks
If I know that'll work, it's only custom engine mounts, pipework, exhaust, driveshafts, ECU... Oh.
Bit of a bump - Just had a good read through this thread as I'm semi-considering picking up a 1*2 to drop my spare 1.8t into, looked a great fun little car.
Question for you: How much room did you have between the block and the bulkhead? I've got a k04-064 (TFSI turbo) conversion on the engine...
Have killed a healthy chunk of my work day flicking through this from start to finish, what a ride! Hope you get a bit of good luck moving forward dude, you've bloody earned it...
So long as you've left enough meat/reinforced required areas then you'll be fine. Amazing how you can get so far then one final issue breaks the camel's back, before a fresh look and relatively easy solution can bring back the motivation and excitement
There's always a way.
Good suggestion on the CVs, worth a look for sure if you can get your hands on one to measure up.
What's stopping the engine from moving across, chassis rail or mount design?
A little bit more work and hopefully not much more money, and as soon as you hit the road...
Torque is torque, so the way you tighten your nuts (ooh hello...) is irrelevant on that front. That said, a good impact wrench is a real asset for quick/easy work.
I've just picked up a new Ryobi R18IW3 and have been nothing but impressed so far. Picked it up for an engine swap to save some...
I'm only here to follow this thread and the occasional update from @debussetti, but since those are rare in basically all yours ;)
I've considered grabbing a cheap 1*2 a few times to drop my k04-064 1.8t into, if that counts?! If I end up writing off the LCR paid I'll pick one up and try to...
Strong progress Dan, won't be long now!
With regards to the heat wrap, let me know how you get on. Mixed reviews of the cheaper stuff so it seems a bit of a lottery, fingers crossed! Don't be too alarmed if it's particularly smoky the first few times it gets hot, just keep an eye on it.
Where'd you get the heat wrap from dude? Need to pick some up for my new DP when I finally get it welded up and want to avoid paying over the odds, but refuse to buy the cheap nasty Chinese stuff some folk go for.
Strong progress dude, look forward to checking it out tomorrow.
Can't say I've ever been a fan of vinyl number plates though - can you not cut holes in the normal plate recess then just have the current plate removable for track use?
OEM- perhaps? :P
Surely the Meg speed sensor can't be that drastically different than the one in the Clio? That said, I'm such an infrequent CS visitor that I've not searched back through the rest of that chain of discussion so probably barking up the wrong tree!
Sorry if I've missed it - I assume that the Clio has a sensor on the box as standard then? Can you intercept an ABS sensor signal to give you a wheel speed source and do some electrical trickery to get it into the format you need to use the Clio clocks and keep things OEM+? That or install a...
Just caught up on the last couple of pages, good to see you're still cracking on dude.
Do you notice much difference with a set of injectors before/after you're given them the ultrasonic treatment? I've got a set of 630cc injectors on the way and can't decide whether to give them a once over or...
