No, absolutely agree! It's a nice situation to be in and you can clearly afford and enjoy it, but the raw numbers are :openmouth:
Like I say though, it's probably not a whole lot worse than someone buying a 335i and doing 5k a year in terms of p/mile
Indeed, new car costs sort of make sense on average annual mileage, but even something like that polo GTI deal that was on here, taken over 5k is eye watering for a garden ornament.
On the other hand, the way you use cars is also bonkers to me, but whilst the costs are high, at least the per...
Yeah it's the odd thing that depreciation happens with age, driven or not, so whilst the total clearly rises, the pence per mile figure is improved by more miles. This is why I can never fathom suffering the depreciation on a new car for 5k a year, but hey, it leaves plenty of good, low mileage...
Ah, from the video I'd assumed it was three sets in addition to what came on the car. If you're managing 20k from a set on fairly soft tyres thats good going!
I guess the torque vectoring is some marketing speak for ESP and applies the rear brakes to correct yaw? If so, it certainly explains the...
In your exact situation? Nothing.
In order to own a hot hatch and not spend 26k over three years? Many things!
Certainly depreciation is a big one, 11k over three years is £305 a month before servicing which can be negated, but not if one of your requirements is a new car (unless you select...
Price isn't a factor in not being bloody stupid. The use of M6 bolts for the exhaust joint, the design of the rear hanger or putting the flange where no one can get to it are all unforgivable. The design of the dipstick, with a short tube, under the fuel rail protector, which is only there...
I've just been doing some reading and the utter contempt from my French POS is growing.
They should have got it to handle nicely and then given it to the Germans to finish. There is literally nothing thats nicely designed on the entire car.
@JamesBryan Oh, so just clean up the faces and re-seal? What kind of sealant?
I've not pulled that apart yet, but my blug bores were full of oil, so I assume its leaking (not sure where else it could have come from?)
Cheers
Cheers @imprezaworks for the tag and @bloke for the links!
The first two look spot on, but I dont need the lower gasket (from the lower inlet to the head) as that's still attached, but I do need the cam cover gasket, which for some reason I cant find on the website?
I need a cam cover gasket, the one for between the two halves of the inlet and the seal between the cam cover and the upper inlet. Anyone know of a decent mail order supplier?
Cheers
There are no good dollies, as they are illegal for anything other than recovery, so it's a trailer.
3500 restriction means post 97 like mine, or post 2013 where the rules are slightly different.
Be careful though, as its not simply a 3500kg restriction. For 1997-2013 you need the following...
I tow my 1000kg clio on a 1300kg single axle trailer behind my daily drive Vw bora tdi.
A LOT depends on your license and whether youre buying or hiring a trailer.
Perhaps they'll learn at the same time as they're learning to take pics which are in focus, holy potato Batman!
Car looks nice though, look forward to some post detail pics once you've got it!
@jamie_trials I bought mine online, just pull the old ones out and measure them, theyre standard metric sphericals.
I replaced mine with GEH20ES-2RS SKF Spherical Bearing 20mm Steel/Steel from Wych bearings

Make sure you...
The other thing is, how long has it been for sale?
I know certain models command a premium and the VW world is a bit mental, but at the end of the day, its 8 grand for a tarted up golf GTI, so you need time to find a buyer who cares about the Edition 30 model and really wants one, as to anyone...
