Let’s do a quick poll: French trophy race is available, Fuel to race and to get there £100.00, Entry fee £300.00, Meals and stuff £20.00. I have £420.00 in spare cash and no way can I borrow any more. I have a number of options, race the Clio on its wets (as the Direzza 03Gs are knackered), race...
Ultimately racing is a compromise if you have limited funds. The Clio is a great compromise car, it’s faster than most, handles really well, puts a smile on everyones face, has a great following and is cheap to run. So you can get it out and race it for £1000.00 per race. If you start to add...
It’s no secret really; I fitted Icemans old engine over the winter, running Jenvey ITB’s on Omex 600 - 213 BHP & 167 lbft
Gearbox is fitted with Quaife and short 5th. I have run FWD cars on plate diffs, they are better but only if you keep them maintained (which I never did!) Quaife is a...
Great vids! If you text me your address I'll post you my bumpercam file from race one. Race 2 wasn't recorded - I lost the card when that impreza reversed into me on lap 6!
Great series. Tony could have had a late lunge at me but didn't - fair play! I had an early lunge at him and you all see where it got me! It was a cracking day, the sun came out and i had the best day racing I have had in ages. All of you with part finished cars should get them on these grids as...
I was late to bed but didn't get up until 10.30am - not 6!
Anyway first crash of the season - I left the handbrake off Ashleys Stockhatch and it's rolled down the yard and knocked the door off the Clio - typical stockhatch driving standards!
OK rant over - sorry for jumping down your throat. I do appreciate the advice that you and Tony have given us and I do genuinely respect your superior knowledge of all things Clio. All I am interested in is getting the Clios among the Hondas.
Bit unfair that Jay was were the first to build a Clio for tintops and i have been building race cars for 30 years -I told you that ours needed a diff in response to one of your questions - I have always been honest with what I have done to our car whenever you have asked. I was just joking when...
Working on the car in the cold is cheating, I'll report you to the CSCC. As per the rules, mine is still in the lorry after the Birkett. I have new pistons, a new roof and rear quarter, some engine mounty thingys and some other secret bits - AND I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE THEM (when it gets warmer)...
I recon that you will gain more with cams but once I have a stronger bottom end then it gives us scope to improve on the top, I still think that the gearbox is the worst bit of the car but a cluster is soooo expensive - might as well buy a Teg
Burpsters can ask me anything and they will get an honest answer; they know that - I just dont have the time to give a thread proper commitment, I much prefer keeping an eye on this one - they know more than I do about Clios! If it's OK with J&T then I will post the spec of my car and all the...
