Kws are fited courtesy of AmD Essex who did a fantastic job. Wouldn have fitted them myself but i rarely try to work on myown motors, always a ball ache.
I'd post pics but it kinda look the same as it was on Bilsteins anyway lol. Getting them sent off for refurb and then refitted to Vickys cars...
Pure motorsport, its definately not too tight. Think it may be a gearbox issue as the gearbox squeaks on tickover ( noise stops when depessing clutch ).
As above checked everything and it all looks good so just gonna live with it.
Plenty of time before your next service then ;)
Havent seen you 197.net yet mate, get yourself over to a monthly Ace Cafe meet, thats the best place to meet local club members. Every 3rd Monday of the month :)
Oh dear we could sit here and debate all day but i've gotta take the dogs for a walk lol.
I know the difference between flat and responsive, as does anybody whos ever driven a 205 GTI, silly sensitive throttle but you should know that more than anyone ;)
I guess it just boils down to me biased...
All of which resulted to 207bhp on the dyno up from pre fitted 178bhp. Most of what you described relates to fitting and setting the kit up, unless the chap in question plans to do the job himself this is why he'll pay good money for a professional to do the work. They'll still work and perform...
Well i cant comment on fitting them as obviously i leave that sort of work to professionals, but as for poor build quality? Mine have seen 12,000 miles in the past year and never missed a beat. The idle needed adjusting once about a week after installation but besides that havent seen any...
As title suggests i've developed a very concerning whine at high rpm from the engine, loudest on heavy throttle and particulary when rolling back down the gear from above 6000rpm. At low speeds and cruising theres no noise.
Aux belt is new, tension is fine, all pulleys are smooth and quiet to...
This has never happened to me but i dont think its due to a loose plug? I read a lot of similar problems on here with the clios, perhaps the threads just weak.
Wouldnt have thought it'd cost the earth from a decent garage.
Justification?
I have two clios fitted with AT power bodies. They both run smooth as standard and produce good power gains and drivability and have been nothing but 100% reliable over many miles ( one of them is a daily commuter ). Even the MPG remains half decent.
IMO they look a better...
I've driven a few non pas track cars on the road and they didnt bother me to be honest but the ph1s my daily and i dot know if i'd regret it or not. Is annoying on a cold morning with full lock off the drive it either squeals or bogs the engine down...
RC5+ are fantastic for road/track pads, very civilsed in day to day commuting with the endurance and stopping power of a full on race pad. I've read people fading them on track? f**k me i've tried in my ITB'd 197 at Snetterton and they weren't having any of it, just performed lap after lap...
Is there such thing as a 'cheap' cup setup lol? Ktec wanted £400! Perhaps I'll notice it more when I give it some beans around track :) anyone recommend PAS delete ;)?
Thanks Laine that's not a bad solution there. I thought I could live with it but everyone who gets in my car asks why the suspension sounds like it's going to fall off lol!
Fair point made Hugo, no I haven't.
As it stands the belt seems to be at a tension I'm happy won't damage any aux component bearings as it stands and is only currently slipping at full lock, which i can more than live with. It does whine a bit at higher rpm but I'm guessing it's just a...
Just for those who think im intentionally bullshitting just to bring pure motorsport into disrepute this is a pic of how short the belt is next to the PS pulley with the alternator butted right up against the block:
Thanks.
Right been a while since the last update, too busy using it and enjoying it!
Since the last aux belt disaster when i disabled my own car i decided for ease of fitting and future work to bin the air con and hopefully gain a few bhp and tidy up the bay. So i bought one of these from Pure...
Kyle isnt 8pm too late if you wanna go down to seafront? Usually dies around 9 on a good night. Woldnt be caught within 5 miles of lakeside on a sat evening in anything remotely sporty these days either!
But the real question is are there any real life gains to be had here? I know its a question asked a million times but im currently on the fence over this myself.
I paid £600 for my last rebuild at newood transmissions, but then again it was jammed in 2nd lol.
Can't really rebuild as I can't afford to have the car off the road. So plan looks to be: 2nd hand eBay job gearbox, valeo clutch kit, two new driveshafts and maybe a lightweight flywheel if...
